Not my favorite mountain and would not be worth going to if you are not within a 2hr radius of the mountain. Runs are very short, steep and generally icy. Most people are from the city and not a local feel if that is what you prefer. Its also a busy and more crowded mountain on and off the slopes with most of the people who go there are beginners to intermediate learners. Again, good for those who are close but not for those who live far away. Theres a 50/50 mix between snowboarders and skiers.

I live in NYC and this tends to be my home mountain as its roughly a two hour drive from the city.
Its incredibly packed on the weekend with tons of families- so i prefer to go midweek. The runs can be a bit icy as to be expected, but I enjoy the technical black diamond runs. There are a few catwalks- places for snowboarders to get stuck- that arent well labeled.
Lifts run quickly and the warming huts are centrally located.

Beginner and intermediate slopes are ok as long as you get there before the crowds. Even then, people are polite and let you pass them. Advanced slopes can get icy at times but fun to ride. Good overall experience. Food is so-so, I recommend bringing something yummy with you if you don't like canteen food, but the soups and drinks there are ok. The slopes need a bit more attention. Good spot for local travelers.

Good mountain for New York with a wide range of terrain but not worth the money if you done have an epic pass

This ski slope has all the good and balanced features to make a good skiing trip. Fresh powder runs are amazing but the groomed runs are even sometimes better in my opinion.

Hunter mountain is an amazing ski destination. Not only are the runs very fun and diverse, but the overall atmosphere is amazing. The lifts are efficient and the town is beautiful.

If you ski east coast New York Hunter is about as good as it gets. Theres 4 phases of mountains. A beginner friendly/learning phase, the main mountain, the main mountain which has varying terrain from intermediate to double diamond, the west side mainly expert/double diamonds and the fairly new north side which is mainly expert level but not as busy. A terrain park is also located in the main mountain area and a six pack lift will get you to the summit quickly. Best to avoid during the holidays and Saturdays as it gets very busy. The apres ski is decent at the main bar and there are occasional outdoor parties for holiday weekends.

The team did a great job at making snow and getting the trails open. But trails were still icy, as is expected on the east coast, because nature doesnt cooperate. Overwise, a good variety of slopes for various levels.
