The mountain is ok for a central/southern ny/ma. The resort has been over crowded by the New York City people coming up on weekends. They parking is beginning to be an issue as the overcrowded is becoming an issue. The racers on the race team are out of control and the coaching staff just watches and does not correct them. They have never been taught the ski/rider code of conduct and it shows. They struggle with lifeline control.

The mountain staff is very nice and they generally do a great job with Maintenence grooming and snowmaking. Lift operators are top notch.

Catamount is a gem of a little mountain. After spending a few decades traveling to Vermont and New Hampshire I decided to ski closer to home and landed on Catamount. It's a small, well maintained area with a thousand vertical feet of fun and steep skiing. Steep skiing you say in the Berkshires? Yes, steeper than any place in Southern Vermont and New Hampshire with smaller crowds and reliable snowmaking and quality terrain. I would give it 5 stars if it had a high speed lift to the summit. The only drawbacks I found are lack of a high speed lift and very limited glade skiing. Other than that it's a great place to ski.
