Way too expensive for size of resort. Plus a third of the place was closed. Because of this lift lines were 15 to 30 minutes. The place is fine otherwise. Not steep, no real black diamonds. Good green and blue groomers.

Alton Alps was a great starting point for a beginner like me. The instructors were extremely patient which I appreciated a lot since I did struggle a fair bit. The gradual slope progression and well-maintained equipment were also very helpful. The views were beautiful as well. Overall, I would recommend anybody new to snowboarding to go to the Afton Alps.

Afton is our home-base in Minnesota. We generally love it, and it serves well to get us prepared for an annual trip out west, which comes free with our Vail Epic passes. Overall it is one of the better hills in Minnesota. It isn't Lutsen, but it gets the job done for a day of skiing or snowboarding. Plus, it is State Park adjacent, so we spend a fair amount of time between Afton Alps and Afton State Park each year.

It was insanely fun, it was my first time learning how to snowboard since Ive always wanted to try it. My cousins have already been snowboarding so they were able to help me a little bit but the school helped me a lot moreband it was so much fun. I recommend going there if your starting off like me. The food good as i enjoyed that. I can't wait to return when I can!
