What Skiers Say About Palisades Tahoe

Palisades Tahoe attracts predominantly advanced and expert skiers drawn to its extensive steep terrain, particularly KT-22 and numerous chutes and cliffs. Reviewers consistently praise the technical off-piste options, powder skiing when conditions allow, and the connection to Alpine Meadows via base-to-base gondola, which significantly expands skiable terrain. However, weekend crowding, expensive lift tickets and food, limited beginner terrain, and frequent wind holds affecting lift operations are recurring complaints. Several users note inconsistent snowfall in recent seasons and mention that the resort feels increasingly corporate and expensive, though weekday visits typically offer a better experience with shorter queues.

Quite a busy resort with a few dining options right in the village. Otherwise its at least 20 minute commute from the closest town. History of recent avalanches, its still a fun, safe mountain. Not very beginner friendly.

Two resorts for 1 price although liftticket is very expensive. I love the Alpine side but the Palisades. Side isn't landed out as well. Extremely crowded on the weekend

Overall one of the best resorts in Tahoe, especially late season, it has a lot of skiable area, especially with the addition of the base to base gondola allowing you to ski what used to be Alpine as well. There are a lot of powder runs that you can hit with a little bit of traversal or hiking, it excels off piste, in my opinion of course.

Amazing resort with lots of piste and off-piste runs ranging from easy groomers to insane declines filled with powder, trees, cliffs, and overall some pretty crazy jumps. Located in Olympic Village, theres lots to do and many accommodations to stay at. I grew up going to ski school here and its still the amazing place its always been but just with its changed name. Would say its definitely one of the harder resorts in America but like I said previously theres options for all levels of skiers.

I have been a passholder to this/these mountains since 2010. Management leaves a bit to be desired, with weird decision making that seems to be fueled by a desire to increase their reputation online rather than be a destination for die-hard skiers/snowboarders. The terrain is there, and it is phenomenal, make no mistake, but don't expect them to make a huge effort to open terrain on time, put creative effort into their parks (though that has improved as of 2023), or have any sort of affordable day pass options. That said, I'll be a pass holder here for life.

Formerly Known as Squaw Valley, Palisades Tahoe has a vast array of terrain to offer to its guests. With just over 3,600 skiable acres and 42 chairlifts, Palisades has it all, my favorite chair being KT-22. Palisades Tahoe offers a ride on the base to base gondola from the Palisades side to the Alpine Meadows side of the mountains. While riding the gondola, you can take a scenic Birds Eye view approach to get to the other side of the mountain in just 16 minutes!
Palisades is the home resort to countless ski industry superstars and will continue to carry on its legacy through the test of time.

Palisades is a great ski resort. There are plenty of skiing/snowboarding options available for all levels and preferences. There are steep chutes, gullies, and natural ungroomed runs for the expert skiers/snowboarders, then there are groomed runs for those who want a more chill and mild run. There is only 1 main run back down to the base from mid-mountain, which can get hard, packed, and icy towards the end of the day. There is the funitel which has a large loading capacity, making for an efficient transport of skiers/snowboarders up to mid-mountain. However, there are also many lifts and runs at base level which dont require having to ride the funitel. The village is well developed and has many dining and shopping options, making for a very family friendly and enjoyable environment. Overall, an excellent resort.
