What Skiers Say About Bear Mountain

Bear Mountain is primarily visited by beginner to advanced riders from Southern California, with many learning to snowboard or ski here. The terrain park receives consistent praise from freestyle riders across skill levels, with multiple reviewers noting well-maintained features and variety. Users repeatedly mention convenience and proximity to Los Angeles as major draws, though this leads to significant weekend crowds and long lift queues. Snow conditions are frequently described as artificial or variable, with ice and slush common outside of fresh snowfall. Food pricing is consistently criticised as expensive, though reviewers note the resort offers good beginner terrain and friendly staff.

Great resort for hitting the park after work. The ski resort has many different areas for freestyle skiing and snowboarding for all levels. Additionally they put a lot of effort into maintaining the slopes and ski lodges with constant renovations and upgrades. I highly recommend the resort.

I went last year in January. It was so badly run with stoned out teenagers on the lift lines at the bottom. Everyday the lift lines were 30-40mins because of appalling lift management with multiple empty chairs. The terrain parks are on the open green runs so you are at regular risk of being hit by flying snowboarders. It is one of the worst run resorts in the USA but the ticket can be combined with snow summit nearby. Both are unlimited on the ikon pass. It is hugely overcrowded and last year experienced very little snow compared to the glut in Utah or Colorado. Lots of accommodation and food options in town. The mountain food looked unappealing and overpriced. Good luck finding somewhere to park. I was consider Tahoe or mammoth and leave this resort to the LA locals. Dress in your oldest gear or from the 80s and you will blend in fine.

you come to hear if you have to or if you like park riding. Its really good at having a solid park and a few steep runs. Overall the mountain is good for people who are looking to get into the freestyle/terrain part of skiing but still offers some traditional downhill skiing.

I think that there should be more ski patrol because sometimes people ski very dangerously and someone can get hurt

Bear Mountain was where I first learned to snowboard, so it's special to me. Overall, it's just alright though. Good for beginners, but might be a bit lacking for advanced riders. Fun terrain park. Snow is ok, but usually run into some slushy patches. This resort also gets pretty packed on weekends and parking can be fairly inconvenient.
