We had a great week! The mountain isn’t great for beginner riders as progression runs are hard. Apres was great fun

Having visited the Valais canton and Saas Valley area while backpacking Europe in 1989, I was keen to go back and experience the skiing in Saas Fee. The commute via Geneva was pretty slick - trains leave the airport for Visp, from where one can get a bus all the way up to the Saas Fee village. It’s a beautiful small village where everything is mostly walking distance. Being a car-free village, commuting other than walking or bicycle, is available by battery-powered shuttles or village bus. We stayed at the Sporthotel Europa on Hannigstrasse on a bed and breakfast basis. Included in the rate are the spa facilities which include sauna, steam bath, hot tub, showers etc. for relaxing after a cold day on the mountain. Skis and equipment was available from many of the rental outlets. We went with Intersport, having used them on a previous skiing trip in Europe - top notch and professional friendly service. Arriving on the 4th of January, we just missed the peak season crowds which was great. Due to the altitude and area being glacial, it was freezing, but the warmth of the service and scenery made up for that. To get back into the flow, we started on the small blue runs serviced by button and T-bar lifts accessible in the village near the ski school and ice rink. To get to higher runs, we had to take gondolas/cable cars via Felskinn, Spielboden and Alpin Express stations. One issue we had with going higher, is that a lot of the blue runs are only accessible or connected via reds. Our two children who had only skied once before were quite nervous which limited their choices up on the glacier areas. Conditions were great though, blue skies and well groomed runs. A treat was to go up to the Mittelallalin revolving restaurant - spectacular. This is reached by taking the Alpin Express to Felskinn. You have to transfer by walking a short distance through the tunnel to get the Metro Alpin, a funicular railway. Food and drink prices are quite high, but visiting from the UK, pretty much on par. Overall a great experience in spectacular surroundings, but ski trips as always are too short. Until next time...

Only the peak was open so it was hard to get a full feel. But it was really good all the less. Groomers were nice. Views incredible. Staff really nice. Genuinely enjoyed my time. Only wish I got there when the full mountain was open.

Challenging skiing, easy to return to village. Skied there for 20 years. Reds are not easy and few blacks but great for everyone.

Nice place, very pricey but proportionately good facilities and food if you have the money. The hostel has optional spa entry

Traffic free village except buses and taxis, makes for a quiet clean space. Large car park with loading zone. Buses are frequent but not always easy to get in and out.
Hotel prices are OK if you stay further out and many offer free transport to and from the car park.
Apres ski is easy to find and ok for swiss prices.
Eating out is not cheap but is good quality.
Lift pass is ok price. Main runs are well groomed, quite wide and pretty quiet given that we were there for a weekend in the school holiday period.
Be warned that there are a lot of T-bars with quite short dismount zones on the upper slopes.

Not a huge area for piste skiers but what is there is well groomed and quiet. Be careful on the t-bars as many have very short areas to dismount while the hangers are still at full stretch. On mountain food and drinks are reasonable for Switzerland. Off piste seems good but be aware of the risk off crevasses on the glaciers.
Village is car free with electric buses and taxis. Eating out is typical swiss prices but good quality.

Stunning scenery, very snow sure, amazing wide red runs at high altitude. Classy car free village with lots of accommodation choices. Expensive but not prohibitively so.

Gorgeous glacial resort with phenomenal long runs, excellent restaurants and long lasting snow!

Ive had some of the best ski days on ce ever had time Saas-Fee. Particularly the huge wide pistes that the run down from the glacier, excellent for big beautiful carving turns.

Would also high recommend the Langfluh Restaurant :) excellent food and service.

I spent October 2023 in Saas-Fee for a month-long ski racing training, and it couldnt have been more perfect. The glacier provided incredible early-season conditions with consistently reliable snow and well-maintained training lanes, ideal for refining technique and gaining speed. The high-altitude setting ensured top-quality training even when other resorts were still gearing up for winter. The village itself is car-free, which added a unique charm and allowed for full focus on training and recovery. With great accommodations, friendly locals, and breathtaking alpine views, Saas-Fee proved to be the ultimate destination for ski racers looking to elevate their performance.

The ski area covers a huge vertical so the off piste runs can be extremely long (if desired). There's a lot of area reachable from the upper gondolas which stays in good condition for several days. The downside of that is very long lift times to get from base to the top. Some routes are not safe without a guide due to the glacier, however there are many touring options if the resort gets tracked out. The lift passes and general cost are higher than many resorts and the food options on the mountain are few.

Charming village and amazing scenery. Lots of good bars and restaurants to choose from and plenty of apres options. Ski area is not huge but has a lot of variety from easy blues to more challenging reds and a couple of blacks. Some lifts could do with updating but on the whole a lovely, typical Swiss village with high altitude slopes.

Great resort for intermediate skiers, the glacier allows a bit of snow security as well. The food and drink are amazing and overall the resort is not to crowded. There is also a great bus system which allows you to get to the lifts easily if you are staying outside of Sass Fee.
