Grimentz Zinal is nestled in the Val DAnniviers between the big resorts of Zermatt and Verbier, whilst the skiing and après-ski is not as extensive, it delivers on everything else.Beautiful unspoilt mountain scenery, amazing backcountry, easily accessible off-piste and compact lift systems means you spend more time skiing, less time on lifts.Ski pass is reasonable versus big resorts. And offers access to St Luc/Chandolon (via bus) Grimentz has a ski park. Zinal has a Freeride area and cross-country skiing. Both suitable for families, up to experts. Zinal is my preferred resort, snow-sure, and with a rugged, alpine feel. Surrounded by majestic peaks. Dont spread the word too far!

For me these (now joined ) two resorts have provided myself and friends some of the best off piste powder skiing I had in Europe. Endless day of powder both lift and skinning have been had naming our favourites as areas and characters from Lord of the rings. Totally recommend.
