San Domenico is a relatively small resort, popular with weekend skiers from the surrounding area. The ski area itself is well maintained with modern lifts (once you are past the older, two seat, first lift that is). During our stay the snow depth was low and so some of the lower runs werent open. The higher runs were great but the only connecting piste was closed for a race 3/5 days we were there, seriously limiting our ski area. Good for a short trip or off-piste if you get good snow.
There was also a good, but small, park area with what felt like a stong freestyle and free ride community. The ski instructors were also very good.
We stayed at La Vetta through a last minute deal. The hotel was very nice but the restaurant was expensive and not open for lunch. There was very little open in the town during the week, but the one pizza restaurant luckily was great. Certainly not a resort for good nightlife.
If it wasnt for the good deal our small group got I think I would have felt a bit let down, but ultimately we were there for the skiing and enjoyed our 5 days of it!

San Domenico has a new main lift installed this season, so reaching the main skiing area will now be a doddle - and getting down will also be great in times of less snow.
This is a small resort (something like 24km of pisted skiing), but wonderful for beginners and intermediate skiers alike, with some good off-piste opportunities.
The lift system is top notch and the resort is nearly always quiet. We haven't stayed in the resort (used to live just an hour's drive away), so I can't comment on the hotels, but access from the nearest town of Domodossola is about 20 minutes, so you can always stay in town and drive up - loads of good parking.
Being such a small, family orientated, resort, all the lift operators are lovely and the atmosphere is friendly and helpful. A brilliant resort for a few days, particularly if you have a car and want to also want to visit Domobianca and a couple of other small resorts.
