What Skiers Say About Livigno

Livigno attracts a broad mix of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to advanced riders, with families particularly well represented. The resort's duty-free status and high altitude are mentioned consistently, resulting in cheaper food, drink, and shopping alongside reliable snow cover from November to May. Reviewers frequently highlight wide, well-groomed pistes on both sides of the valley, minimal lift queues, excellent ski schools for children, and good value compared to France, Switzerland, and Austria. The main recurring drawback is the long transfer time from airports like Milan Bergamo or Innsbruck, typically three to four hours. A few advanced skiers note the limited quantity of challenging black runs, and some mention that the ski area, while adequate for a week, can feel small for those seeking extensive mileage.

This was a great family friendly resort and good high altitude location with great skiing for beginners and intermediates looking to excel.
Great for a romantic getaway and lgbtq friendly (not necessarily a gay SCENE but very chill tolerant people minding their business).

A lovely change from France for us, with a very different ambience and better value. The odd tax status of the region helps! We went by train from London, via Switzerland and then bus from Zernez to Livigno. Simple enough and a great experience. We found some great pistes, in good condition for March, although not very many shielded by trees. The long thin village is largely elegant and there are masses of boutiques and high end shops alongside some excellent eateries. We even found a great brewery bar, with free monkey nuts with the shells swept into the floor! The main downside is that the ski area is split in two on hills opposite each other across the valley, with a bit of an awkward bus in between. Still, there's though on each side to amuse most for a days skiing. Some great apres ski spots too. We even found a great brewery bar, with free monkey nuts with the shells swept onto the floor! Certainly a resort we'd consider again.

Had the best time at Livigno. Really nice blues, reds, didn’t go on any black slopes. A wide variety of different mountains and slopes to try which was amazing.
The food was also fabulous - ate out every night, really good value for money and really good quality food. Would highly recommend

Livingo is a super family friendly and safe resort. We love the child friendly ski schools, restaurants and hotels. There are plenty of ski runs and none are too overcrowded. Runs further out the mountain are really pleasant and worth seeking out. Apres ski can be family oriented in the restaurants, or bars with lively music.

Tax free on so cheap food and drink. Tricky place to ge to however. Flew to Bergamo and drove up 3 hours - but worth it! Good amount of skiing, not too crowded yet lively apres if that's what you wish.

Food in the local restaurants was the highlight!

It was very cold whilst there. They were making snow most days, both sides of the valley. All the pistes were in good condition, even when it was windy there was somewhere to ski. There are plenty of places to eat on the mountains both sides, a couple of expensive ones, cheap by Swiss resort prices but good quality.Great town for bargains as it is duty free, paid excellent price for skis and bindings. Great restaurants in the town, and there is some lively apres.

Great resort on the Swiss / Italian border. High up so snow is always pretty good. Very rarely goes above freezing during the season. Food is excellent and so much more reasonable than France, Switzerland or Austria. Just a lovely place to be.

Very fun & playful resorts, lots of "fun runs" and snow parks. Good apres although can be quieter on some nights. Shops for alcohol & aftershave etc are very cheap due to being a tax free resort.

There was a small snowpark right behind our apartment with a button lift, you could ski from this park across to the main gondola. Due to not being able to access the park by skiing from the resort to the park, it was always empty, and we had a snowpark to ourselves most of the time.

Quite a small ski area so if you like to travel on pirate probably not the best area for you.
The town is long and stretched out with loads of good shops and bars. Being Duty free means there are good deals to be had and prices are generally good fir food and drink too.
