The town of champoluc remains pretty quiet after 6pm; there are a few bars ( hardly any shopping options) yet most folk seem to socialise in their hotels after that; apart from a queue here and there, especially at the bottom first thing, the slopes remain pretty quiet through the day, unless you're unlucky at the end of the day; but..BUT.. if that's what you want, Champoluc let's you fill your boots. Out of peak times, it felt as though we were the only ones on the slopes.. to access the same slopes and maybe a different experience off them, try Gressony, but I've never stayed there. There are some good reds and blacks ( The Goat can be a real challenge if there are lots of folk on it) stretching up to 3000m; there are plenty of options for off piste; but given the sad tales of folk setting off avalanches across the world, be cautious here!
Italy remains a cheap option pretty much everywhere, and spring snow can offer a great experience. But I expect it'll be a different experience at Easter during the school holidays. However, in the 24/25 season, the biggest "dump" of snow happened in April!

Skiing in champolc is a delightful local village feel. The locals welcome you and serve good tasty mountain food.

Hotel Castor is my favourite. As soon as I walk in the lounge I get an immediate extra 9% relaxation. I feel at home.

We visited over Xmas. The resort was quiet, the snow amazing due to its altitude. Food on the mountain and lift passes very reasonable.

Amazing week of skiing with two friends.
Hadn’t skied for a few years and was slightly concerned by the low number of green/blue runs. However the reds were relatively easy and even managed a couple of blacks on the first day.
Despite it being uk half term for the end of season he trio the slopes were not busy

Champoluc and the joining resorts, when looking at a piste map, don't initially look like there's a ton to do there. But actually, there's plenty to do, and enough family friendly runs around for them to have a good time and the accessible freeride terrain is awesome. And if you hire a guide they'll show you the even better stuff! Plenty of good food options in town and a good (if a tad pricey) mini market that's open on Sundays too. Not the place if you want a rowdy night out, but there's a good pub/bar called I'll Golo.

Really nice quiet Italian resort. Stayed at Hotel Champoluc, right next to lift. Essentially ski in and ski out. Ski hire just next to lift and hotel. Owner Max is very accommodating and staff are happy, very family run hotel. Delicious food. Can get lifts over to Gressoney and other villages. Reasonable price of food and drink, allergies well catered for (I’m coeliac). Apres ski Saturday night at bar opposite hotel. Champoluc quite pretty town with very good spa, river walk. Hotel Champoluc has own spa. Mostly red runs great for intermediate, a few black runs that are ok for intermediates.

We LOVED Champoluc, we’re both former seasonnaires and spent our time in French resorts, we’re now Italian converts.

The food and hospitality is unrivalled, we are like kings and absolutely loved the linked resorts.

The lifts were good, some were a little dated but that added to the charm.

The value for money of both the ski pass and food and drink were fantastic.

The only downside was how busy the lifts were on the weekend, but, we were warned about this and made the most of the other days. We’ll definitely be back.

Quiet, large area, lifts so-so. Not for beginners, ample red runs. Apres/nightlife non existent. Restaurant prices great, i.e. coffee 1.50 euro.

I skied here for 1 day when I was staying in Aosta. My overall impression was that Champoluc is pretty average in terms of the skiing. It wasn't helped by a few lifts being old and slow and also one or two big bottlenecks where the queues were very long. In fairness, it was a Saturday and I'm sure during the week in low season there would be very little queuing. There was nothing necessarily wrong with the resort but when Cervinia is very close by, and a similar journey time from Aosta, it's a no brainer to go to Cervinia. However, the scenery is absolutely stunning so I would potentially go back on the strength of this alone.

Amazing snow conditions, spectacular Views, lifts are really slow but a gem to go to again. Plenty of options for ski fun with kids, mountain huts are delightful and were often quieter than what I expected. This was the first week of Feb25

We were based in Aosta valley in Champoluc which is a stunning area.

The ski resort is very family friendly with a range of different runs which are all relatively quiet, so also great if you are starting out as a beginner.

The main lift up from aosta often did stall, but wasnt majorly busy. The rest of the lifts we had no trouble and minor queues.

Overall this is a great option if youre after a slightly cheaper ski holiday compared to France, especially for beginners and families who want a quieter less busy resort.

Champoluc is a lovely resort part of Monte Rosa at one end - good free ski bus access to neighbouring Frachey and also for beginners Antagnod. Snow everywhere - lovely tree runs at mid to base level - rapid gondolas and funicular - most chairlifts quick, couple slow. Very compact and handy for main gondola and ski hire shop and few local bars - fantastic on mountain restaurants/bars converted from rifugios - will be going back. Weekly piste pass very good value for money
