I worked in Valmeinier in 2016, at which point I had never skied or boarded; I am now very good at both, and while I've hit a few resorts (~5 resorts per year), I have done ne valmin every year since.
It's incredible, and being relatively unheard of, it's quiet.
Really does cater for all levels of rider, with the greens being long and flat, the reds being wide & varied and the blacks / off-piste bring best suited for those who crave a challenge.
My partner isn't interested in off piste & I am, but that's no issue as I can get plenty of (almost) back country & tree runs without straying too far away.
160km, 2 nice towns & a cracking little village with everything you need, including an epic nightclub.
