What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

Pretty epic overall! In the peak seasons, the lifts can get a bit busy but then, its possible to just get to the further reaches of the resort like the aguille percée area, and there are usually a lot less people there. The après ski is Greg at at the folie douce, and at all the bars in the town, with val claret having my favourite. The powder is great most of the time as the resort goes really high up so the snow is super dry and fluffy.

Tignes is an excellent ski resort. Huge area on a shared lift pass with Val d'Isere. Variety of piste difficulties. Good snow record. Pistes are well groomed. Lifts open promptly after snowfall. Efficient staff. Only possible criticism is that there isn't enough parking now that Club Med has built on half the old Grand Motte carpark - Tignes needs to provide more visitor parking but I would still recommend it :)

Visited Lac in Tignes for maybe 10 years straight, which probably says all you need to know. Massive resort even without Val D'iesere, but would recommend including that in your ski pass if you're an advanced skier/boarder. Apres and nightlife seems good but on family trips so have never truly explored.

Visited very early in season and the snow levels were amazing but make sure to pack warm and remember a buff because on certain days the visibility and weather can be very poor
By getting a Tignes-val disere pass you can go to neighbouring val disere to avoid bad weather on these days as well. Would highly recommend taking the time to go up to the top of Grande Motte, the views are amazing.
Great selection of apres ski (would recommend cocorico), food, and other facilities, although often pricey.

The resort was great, the slopes were good, though there were only a few green options. Plenty of blues, and never too busy.
