What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

What can I say Tignes is part of one of the best skiing areas in the world and along with Val disere makes for a fantastic winter sports experience
The 300km pistes are top notch and blasting down some of the big motorway runs to clear the remnants of yesterdays apres first thing in the morning is fantastic, move up the mountain and there are some sublime reds and blacks to drop you down Les Brevieres at the bottom of the valley and thats before lunch, the standard of mountain restaurant youll find in Tignes is superb however you may need to book at peak times and they can be very expensive, a trip back to resort could save you money on food.
The apres in Tignes is excellent and a trip to La Folie Douce is a must but dont miss the last lift up tommeusses or youll be paying for a taxi back from Valdisere,
Accommodation is what you would expect from a purpose built resort.
All in all a fantastic world class resort and needs a visit at least once in your life!

Family friendly but also good places to party. Awesome frozen lake and some real nice runs to hit. Perfect for a week if you dont want to go to the more crowded 3 valleys

Love skiing in Tignes, however is a much smaller ski area compared to the 3 valleys. Have been some amazing times skiing over to Valdiesere as they are so close it is really easy.

Tignes has always been one of my favourite ski resorts, great snow conditions even at the end of the season, the lift system is very up to date and efficient. The Pistes /parks are always well prepared .
Tignes has always been a resort for die hard skiers, things seem to be changing a bit and more leading to the luxury end of the ski market with new hotels /accommodation popping up.
Hopefully this will not price out all the die hard skiers that have always appreciated this great resort.

Great ski area. Often the piste runs are a little trickier than other areas. Everyone is very friendly and kind. Great area for food.. particularly like the steak place and Juliette23 in Tignes le lac area

I loved the skiing at tignes. The slopes were very well connected with chairlifts allowing you to ski at many different places with the same lift pass, including val claret and val disere. The runs were relatively quiet and lift queues were on the whole quite short (except for the connecting lift from folie douce to the top of tignes at 4:30pm). All the runs had great snow quality and the ski in/ski out was fantastic. Accommodation options were good with lots of apartments in the area. Eating out options were good but not an amazing array of different types of restaurants.

It was my favourite resort to date and Ive been skiing for 15 years, the runs where fantastic and very well connected, the apres ski was well good, the only downside is there isnt many tree runs if thats what your into, but the powder and off piste was amazing as well. There is plenty of option for places to eat and if you get the lifts to the top of the glacier the views are amazing.

Great resort, connection to Val d'Isere can be affected by bad weather or wind. Connections to Lavachet area was limited when we were there so could only easily access 1 side of the resort. App was hopeless, Val d'Isere app was better.

The whole Espace Killy ski zone is amazing and Tignes is an excellent option for families and groups looking for a quieter trip than val d'isere. To save money, staying in le lac, tignes 1500 and 1800 are also great options with great links to the main ski area.

Book well in advance for good accommodation prices.
Make use of the bus service, can be a total life saver.
Save money at lunch by bringing food out, as there's not a huge amount of evening restaurant choices!
Slopes are more technical than the listing would suggest I.e blues that should be reds and so on.
Very friendly town, great people!
Head to Tigne spirit for rentals they're super chilled and can recommend good bars and restaurants!

Was always great for advanced and expert skiers/ boarders. Theyve done a lots of work on both cruising reds/ blues for intermediates. Beginners are now provided for, but it wouldnt be my first choice for a family skiing for the first time. Other than skiing, the pool/ wellness/ fitness are great.

Epic skiing. Pistes are excellent - high and snow-sure, but it's the variety of easily accessed off-piste that makes Tignes my favourite resort

Snowparks should be good, however bit small and needed conveyor belt and button lift to get back to the top. Down rails were closed off for the full week. Jump runs were great with medium and large. Great couloirs (but not that many) and off piste runs as well as the glacier. Some heated lifts but no bubbles (pretty sure). Cheap accommodation around a nice courtyard for espressos and that. Coco Rico apres is my favourite on the alps (way better than bar 360 and that at 3 valleys). Live band most night then djs and late closing time. Big resort.

Cocoricos in val claret has got to be one of the best apres bars in the French alps. Can be accessed by foot and opens late. Decent night life in val claret, lesser so if you are staying in a different village of tignes.
The free shuttle is helpful for getting between the villages, I just wish it ran for longer (we went out in val claret and had to walk 50 mins home to le lac)
300km of piste is not to be messed with, as well as easily ski into val disere.
Great for apres, would say its a perfect lads/ girls holiday destination for 20-30 year olds. Didnt see too many families whilst there.

Excellent for younger skiiers wanting a challenging skiing experience and heavy night out experience in equal measure.
However these qualities do not disallow it from being an enjoyable and affordable experience for skiers of a lower ability or families with younger children.
