What Skiers Say About Montgenèvre

Montgenèvre is consistently described as a quiet, family-friendly resort sitting on the French-Italian border at 1,860m. Reviewers span beginner to expert level, with the majority being intermediate skiers. The most repeated themes are minimal lift queues, wide gentle pistes suitable for learning, and good snow reliability due to altitude. Nearly all reviews mention the ability to ski into Italy and access the wider Via Lattea area. The limited après-ski and nightlife is noted repeatedly, with reviewers either appreciating the relaxed atmosphere or finding entertainment options sparse. Several users return year after year, citing value for money and uncrowded slopes as key draws.

Quite a quiet resort, good for families. The luge is well worth a visit. Slopes are fairly quiet, we went in march.Mountain bars are reasonably priced and very friendly.

Great resort for intermediate skiers and families, snow conditions unreal - feet of fresh powder every day we were there january 2025. Every meal was tasty, the best restaurants were on the 'fancy' side of things, decent service white table clothes, though you can get pizza takeaway as well.Slopes quiet other than at the weekend when the locals descend in droves. Lifts serviceable though a bit slow, mixed gondolas and chairs on the same lines. Plenty of free skiing terrain easily accessible, and good access to tree runs off sides of many of the pastes.ESF ski school professional and good as always.Only downside to this resort for our group was quite limited apres scene with only 1 proper nightclub and 1 pub.

Great sized ski area if you choose the Montgenèvre & Monts de La lune ski pass with easy access across Italian border. Good for intermediate skiers with lots of beamy blue and red runs. Some nice mountain restaurants up high - La Terrace on the south side is excellent. Town a bit tired and Apres options very limited to one/two bars. A couple of nice restaurants but a lot of it was shut which in late Jan felt a bit sad! All in all a nice resort but the the town/accommodation needs investment to build some life back into it.

I hadnt been boarding in awhile, so this resort really brought my confidence back, everything is well put together, it doesnt take long to get anywhere, and the runs are so chill with beautiful views. Accommodation has many options, but the one I have stayed was very nicely laid out and cosy! Food was fab and excited to return!

Montgenevre is a lovely small family friendly quiet resort with a huge area of pistes and non groomed slopes. Theres a fabulous luge which is great fun & a small snow park. Theres a few shops, restaurants and bars but not much to do if youre looking for a livelier resort but thats the beauty of Montgenevre. Its busy at peak times as its a high resort so many day trippers and school ski trips if the snows not great in other resorts so be warned! Theres a fabulous spa & pool complex so great to unwind and Briancon is only 20 minutes away. Theres a bit for everyone

We absolutely love going to montgenevre, its an amazing resort. Everything is in reach and walking distance. There restaurants shops bakeries, butchers and other things. The slopes are amazing, lots of different ones to explore. You can even ski or walk over to Italy in a day which is great. The accommodation is also fabulous, all of them are nice.

Nice and quiet resort, plenty of good runs for beginners/intermediate.Not much going on at night, and not many restaurants. The accommodation we stayed was ok, could have done with more coat hooks/hangers in bedrooms.

Decent ski area with a fair variety of runs and easy access to wider Via Lattea.
Fairly priced restaurants and cafes on the mountain (and the gorgeous Les Terrasses) followed by a calm but pleasant apres ski scene with a good few bars and one tiny nightclub - think family oriented / drinks and a chat rather than a full-on apres session!
Broad variety of accommodation and a couple of small supermarkets for self-caterers, good range of ski rental places and easy access to the pistes seemingly from the whole village! Had a great week there!

The resort was pretty good overall. I especially liked the fact that you can ski to the Italian part in a day and come back to the French side/ vice versa.

Recent lift upgrades have vastly increased the speed of the longest lifts. Higher up the mountain queues are not long (<5 min) even on busy days. There is one lift with quite a horizontal run up which takes some speed to approach!

Good variety of pistes and plentiful runs, including possibility to add-on into Italy. Less forest-y runs but good variety of on-piste options and difficulties. The pistes straddle the town but are interconnected.

Beautiful resort with trees and separate bowls/areas to lose yourself in away from the town and really make it feel like youre in the mountains.
Easily accessible array of runs serviced by excellent lift system which link into other resorts and give option to slide across to Italy and join the linked area too.
Italian lunch anyone?
One of my fav resorts for tranquil beauty and making memories.

Montgenèvre is an easy choice as it is the only resort in Via Lattea that has a good balance of people and snow.

The slopes are challenging but nice and wide so you don't feel too many people around.

I eat rarely when I am skiing so not many reviews on that and I have a house in Oulx so I commute easily from there.

We originally was in Sauze d'oulx in Italy but there was no snow so was stressing thinking the ski holiday was ruined so we asked a local for any where near that had snow and was referred to Montgenevre. Absolutely fantastic resort and saved us and our spirits. Fantastic and scenic runs and alot of the runs had very good lengths, couldnt recommend enough.

If you are more interested in family ski or boarding on quiet slopes then the lesser known Montgenevre is a great option. I've been going there with my family for over 10 years and the snow is always amazing. It seems to have a micro climate of its own and seems so snow sure. Because its not a party centre you can just relax and enjoy the quiet slopes and never crowded lifts. There's great runs and plenty of reds, blacks and gentler runs too. You can go offpiste and there's a speed run and snow park if that's your thing. We self cater so there are mini marts and bakeries to get supplies and plenty of great restaurants and bars too. Lovely place and I'm going again in 2025.
