The Skiers' Guide to Les Contamines Montjoie

Overall I spent a whole week skiing at this resort. I had a magnificent experience as the weather was amazing. The lifts were efficient and the on piste restaurants were high quality m. During my stay I had lessons in the morning with a ski instructor named Antoine. My level sky rocketed as a result of my excellent instructor and I was able to ski black runs very well by the end of my stay. The shuttles that take you from the village to the ski resort were great. Overall I highly recommend this ski resort and will definitely be returning in the future.

We've been repeat visitors to Les Contamines for a number of years. It's a family friendly resort without the big name, price tag or visitor numbers!
We love the sunny slopes and wide pistes, and as a mixed ability family there's plenty of options for all of us to have fun.
There are strong restaurant options both around the mountain and down in the valley. The ice rink is a firm favourite activity for an evening or quieter ski day.
The ski bus takes you around the town and to the 2 main bubbles that get you up to the pistes. It gets busy at peak times so it's worth planning your ski days to minimise queueing.

Les Contamines is probably my absolute favourite resort in the Chamonix/ Haute-Savoie area. You can't beat it in terms of size, views, thrilling blue/black runs and the ski down to the car park when the snow is good is one of the best I've ever done. Plus the tartiflette at the La Ferme du Ruelle restaurant is one of the best ever.

Nice resort, some challenging runs, a few bars and restaurants at the middle/bottom. Nice and quiet and good snow

Excellent family resort. Usually holds snow all the to Easter. Slopes are always uncontested and lifts are never a queue nightmare.

Night life is down the hill in Saint Gervais. Reachable by free shuttle bus or 10 minutes by car.

This was my first ever ski trip! Im now hooked, really enjoyed the experience, plenty of easy routes for beginners like me. Reasonable prices for accommodation close by. Lifts were all new and efficient.

We have been skiing in Les Contamines since 1998 and it never dissapoints! Our children learnt to ski here as well. High enough to have snow all season, a good variety of slopes for all. Lovely restaurants to enjoy a well earned lunch or a beer at the end of a hard days skiing. Thank you Les Contamines for all the wonderful holidays!

Fairly quiet resort, some wide pistes but also so more advanced terrain. Very nice views of the the Mont Blanc massif.

Family friendly resort with great off-piste. Great choice of terrain especially if include Evasion Mont Blanc pass. Very good value for food and drinks on and off the slopes..no big ski tours so very pleasant as few queues even at busy times. Would highly recommend.

Les Contamines is an amazing resort particularly if you stay at the chalet of l'Etape. It is located on the pists facing the ski school. the ski resort offers a variety of amazing landscapes simply breath-taking .

Great resort for people looking to spend the whole day skiing/snowboarding and especially those who like going off piste. There are many off pistes slopes near the top of the lifts, but also some easier slopes if you stay around the middle of the mountain. Not exactly the best for après or food, but great for sporty people

Nice resort. Not ski in/out but the telecabin moves quite fast. Seems to absorb the crowds if resort is fully open. Even at February half term didn't really have to wait too long at the lifts once into the resort itself. Older lifts slowly being replaced. For a complete beginner there are a few places where the connectivity could be improved to make the experience better.

Les contamines is still a relatively unknown resort, despite becoming a little more known in the last few years . Really friendly and a surprising amount of skiing to be found. Consistently good snow and is always holding the snow better than its lower neighbours. Good, fast lift system. Quite a few bars and restaurants, but not party central if thats your thing. If you have a car, you can also ski in St Gervais (linked to Megeve), Combloux, Praz sur Arly, and even Chamonix valley resorts are only 30 minutes away.

Always enjoyable, when nearby resorts really poor, Conta delivers. Only issue is poor light susceptibility

Typically French but not the cheapest of resorts for food and drink.

Small ski area, but part of a larger ski zone if you don't mind a road trip around the mountain.

Excellent summer location. So many other activities to keep you busy.

Due to the natural bowl shape, and central lift area, it lends well to family skiing. In particular low to middle tier experience skiers.

Everyone in town is friendly. There is a strong community feel.

There is a good selection of shops for essentials and activity essentials.

Recommending Les Contamines, even though that may risk future booking availability for me!

Great resort with good cover even after a long period without new snow. It has something for everyone with amazing views of Mont Blanc and delicious French food and wine served at the on-mountain restaurants.
