We visited Ax during the last week of January. While the snow conditions werent ideal on the first day, we were fortunate to have a few snowfalls, which improved things significantly. The lifts, however, are beginning to show their age and could certainly benefit from some modernisation. During our visit, we didn't encounter any queues on the weekdays, which was a pleasant surprise. One downside, however, was the amount of flat terrain, which proved challenging for snowboarders. The plateau, with its numerous small green runs, was quite disorganised; nothing seemed to connect, meaning a fair bit of walking was required. The Campels side was fantastic on one day, but very windy the next, although it did offer some great blue runs. Overall, the resort is ideal for complete beginners, especially given that access to the bunny slopes is only 25. On a positive note, we had a wonderful experience at the Rendezvous restaurant definitely worth a visit.

Have skied most of the other local resorts in this area of the Pyrenees but this is my favourite. Thermal spa town with a great thermal baths to unwind after skiing. Lovely authentic town centre with thermal springs in the centre. 80kms of runs if all open but due to lack of snow not usually 100% open. Good facilities for motorhomes, can park at the bottom of the slopes. Nice tree lined runs . A good resort for a few days skiing. Gets very busy in school holidays though.

Trip was expensive, slopes were smooth and arrived on a snowy powdery day. Didnt travel down terrain parks much but they looked Icey and steep, excellent for highly qualified skiers. Food was good for the price.
