Avoriaz is in the heart of the portes du soleil, one of the biggest cross border ski resorts in the world.

As for Avoriaz its self its a nuanced resort with a little bit of everything, groomers, exposed faces, tree lines, bumps. You can find it all.

Theres many different highly qualified ski schools and guides in the area, and good equipment rentals.

Its a 5 minute cable car ride from morzine a lovely traditional ski town with great food and nightlife.

Avoriaz itself has some superb on piste eating and drinking.

Overall the something for everyone and even if the skiings bad, the view is great!

Avoriaz has so much to offer for such a large variety of abilities and ages. There are calm blue and green runs for those starting out, and steep red and unpisted blacks for those looking for a challenge. With links to Switzerland, Chatel and Morzine, the ski area you can reach without having to even take your skis or board off, is incredible. Those looking for a bit more of a aerial session are treated to a big park with kickers of all sizes as well as all the best boxes and rails. If you time it right, you can even have a play on a full sized half pipe! For the little members of the family, the mini park in the Super Morzine area is so much fun for building confidence and pushing boundries, ending in a fun run through the trees, your kids can even ski up into a treehouse!
Aside from skiing, Avoriaz offers a great array of ski-in-ski-out accommodation choices and restaurants to suit all. A spot not to be missed is the Igloo bar, near to the Prodain cable car, where hand carved ice sculptures can be seen and cold beer can be drunk!

Have been skiing in avoriaz/ Morzine for years and more recently with ever advancing children.

The resort opens the door to the portes de soleil ski area. In my opinion it offers an extremely unique experience. There are many terrain parks, excellent instruction of kids and adults alike, wide variety of piste and the off piste is outstanding.

The mountain restaurant options are amazing and the people exceptionally friendly. Families can cruise many blues together and feel that they have covered good ground. If you are looking for more challenging skiing, try the Swiss wall or the moguls off the side of the cubore lift if you like bumps, or the Calle de la manche!

The whole package!

I have been going to the avoriaz-morzine-chatel (pds) resort for around 20 years now. Recently I explored around a few other resorts in the alpes (chamonix, 3 valleys etc) but I think avoriaz has the widest range of pistes and runs available. Not only is their the portes du soieil pass which gives access to hundreds of km of pistes you also are treated to amazing tree runs (if you know where to look, linderets valley), many different jump and skill parks, and normally some pretty nice powder in the avoriaz bowl. Of course the Swiss wall is a nice piste to conquer every time you go and can challenge the more advanced skiers. Views of the dents blanches and dents midi are always breathtaking, and on clear days Mont Blanc is visible. Throughout the whole resort theres a range of cafes and restaurants for skiers to stop and have food or coffee. Afterwards theres a wide range of activities possible like the spa, water park and of course apres at foile duce! Everyone is super nice and compared with some places prices are reasonable. Avoriaz has a nice indoor tunnel system thing to get from accommodation to the restaurants and bars which is great in the peak winter months. You can also stay down the valley in morzine which has a good night life scene, more shops than avoriaz and more variety of restaurants.

Ive been skiing in and around avoriaz my whole life. It is a truly unique resort and there is nothing like it in the alps. It is quick and easy to get to from Geneva and has many different accommodations with ranger prices. The off piste skiing and piste skiing is connected by a high efficiency lift structure. Every day you spend in the resort you will discover something new. It is the largest ski resort over two countries in the world and I think is one of the best to go in the world.

Avoriaz is a beautiful purpose built mountain resort sitting at 1800m above sea level, and part of the massive portes du soleil ski area. Our party of 4 visited here during New Year of 23/24. The resort caters for all levels of skiers/boarders with many green and blue pistes and also plenty of red and black runs for more advanced. There seemed to be plenty of variety for children or adults needing to book in with ski schools, with plenty of varied runs to learn on. From avoriaz it is also possible to access the full portes du soleil ski area easily. There is some fantastic skiing through Switzerland with tree-lined runs plentiful along with open terrain, giving a vary varied experience. There are dedicated areas for free riding and a lot of off-piste to discover however we mainly stuck to the piste. The resort is well set up for lunch and dinner options, as well as a lively après scene. Overall a wonderful resort, which we will visit again and again.

I have been going to Avoriaz for some 15 odd years now!! The resort is fantastic, with an abundance of skiing, lots of lovely restaurants/cafes and very family friendly. Perfect for all levels of skiiers!!

Loved the stache, shame there werent more big jumps/kickers for park.

Avoriaz itself is a great resort with an awesome park in the Chappel park and of course, the stash (my favourite terrain park in the world). Its a cool town that you can ski all the way through, virtually no cars, all piste. It also has an excellent nightlife, including the Snowbox festival

Avoriaz was a great ski resort for a beginner skier, where I utilised their ski school to book a private ski lesson. Their green run in the centre of the resort was easy to learn the basics on with plenty of options to progress.

The Apres Ski is amazing, with a fantastic restaurant at La Folie Douce.

Due to being higher, there is likely to be more snow than other resorts - such as Les Gets. Great resort for when you want to do some serious skiing - as you can get over to Switzerland as a bonus!

As an intermediate skier, avoriaz offers the perfect combination of runs and parks to be able to improve your skills! The apres is fantastic with folie never missing!!

I had a great time in Avoriaz; the runs are great for skiers of all levels. The convenience of ski in ski out everywhere is great. The apres ski is so good at folie and nightlife is great. I went during Easter so was slightly more busy than any other time

One of my favourite resorts in the French alps, incredible skiing with incredible views. An even better apres!

Avoriaz is a great resort with easy connections to Morzine, Les Gets and Switzerland. Higher altitude means better snow quality. Plenty of opportunity for excitement with the jump park and the Stash.

One of the best resorts in the Portes Du Soleil, snow quality is amazing throughout the season and pistes are well maintained with few closures. Theres a great variety of piste difficulty for all kinds of skiers and a number of different snowparks and snowcross trails. The apres at the Folie Douce or any other bar is never a disappointment, and the accommodation is ski in ski out throughout the village. English is spoken at nearly every establishment and the ESF and other ski school operators are very friendly and easy to find.

I really enjoy skiing in Avoriaz and think that the diversity of runs and different places you can go with a PDS pass is brilliant. The food tends to be good and there is a nice vibe around the slopes as well as within the town. The snow is also great due to how high up the resort is.

I loved the ski in ski out accommodation options, and the folio douce is an elite après spot! There is a variety of slopes, so everyone is catered for but there is perhaps a lack of powder spots that I could find. The park has a great range of features, and there is a ton of restaurants, however some are quite pricey. Dont forget to try the Swiss wall!!

Avoriaz is a high altitude, snow sure, ski and ski out, forming part of the huge super star ski area Portes du Soleil. The town is perched precariously on the edge of sheer cliff looking down to the village of Morzine. Although modern and purpose built, its unique alpine style blends in with its surroundings. Its also car free meaning its perfect for all the family to roam freely and safely. A nice treat when you drop off the car to one of the two car parks (one underground, one not - *use the underground one - you dont want to be shovelling your car out of the snow at the end of the week) at the start of the resort is to take a horse drawn carriage to your hotel. Only a few euros. The other option is a sort of snow tractor taxi (which is also pretty fun) *or you can walk if accommodation is near the start. I found the best skiing is down to the bowl in Lindarets. Sun trap with lots of places to eat, music playing and so many options of which way to ski out and back. Another great long run from town is down to the Prodains lift. Challenging and often in the shade but such a great leg burner. Just simply return on the huge Prodains cable car to take you straight back to town. The Burton Stash run is essential for all the park people - the wooded area has natural hits made from its surroundings- the picnic table is my favourite. If you want a serious challenge then the Swiss Wall is a must. This really is only for expert skiers/boarders - even the look over the starting steep edge is scary. You do have the option of taking a lift down and over the border in Switzerland and you can look over your left shoulder as people try to negotiate the kilometre long mogul field of the Swiss wall. No better way to finish the day with a deserved beer at the Folie Douce bar - pumping live music, brilliant atmosphere for all (although mainly youngsters dancing on the outside tables). Avoriaz also has a great nightlife - Shooters being a great place for food, drink and late music and then often finishing with a very late night in Le Yak nightclub. The resort is also great for families. Outdoor ice rink and sledding in the middle of town. Ten pin bowling on the edge of town and the star of the show is Aquariaz - a huge indoor water park with pools, lazy rivers, slides and outdoor jacuzzis. Ive been here 4 times and Ill know Ill be coming back soon.
