Beautiful, imaculate, south facing resort.
No lift queues, great ski school options and availability, fabulous links with Alpe D'Huez grand domain.

This quiet (literally EVERYTHING is closed by 10pm, apart from 2 very small bars-which I DO recommend you go nosey in, to join the seasonairs for some great banter, and sample the Genepi) and family friendly (free non-ski activities for the younger visitor, available all day every day) is just wonderful for the beginner (never lost a family member yet, as every green/blue run leads you back into the village centre).
Best do selfcatering, as the two/threw (open on an evening) restraunts have just two sittings, and get booked up in advance (do the same, and email in your reservation request early as they are WELL WORTH sampling).
Unpressured rental options for all levels.
Friendly, multilingual staff manning both tourist office, lifts and the ticket booths (great online booking options are also available, even for Auris ski area only skiing).

The weekly Auris show, with fireworks, hot chock/mulled wine and free and fully inclusive 'torch parade' down the main slope are the highlight of my year (maybe participation is aimed at the younger visitor, but noone has stopped me or my friends participating yet).

South facing, can mean slushy afternoons (and sunburn), and at an altitude of 1600, it is not snow sure, but the team work their magic to ensure runs are available throughout the season. Alpe D'Huez offers snowsure skiing, and is just a chairlift (well...maybe three) along.

The worst part is getting there. With no direct transport links, and the taxi hire advertised as readily available ...is not. Book your return transfers from the airport in advance (and pay up-front to secure it), as the taxi up from Bourg-d'Oisans (nearest accessible village by bus) costs the same anyway. Alternatively, drive. Easy route, great aires. Probably cost you the same in the end, but does take longer.

Good beginner area, easy access to alped'huez, super quiet when we were there, lots of area to play

Travelled by motorhome.
Motorhome Park area had fantastic views. 9 a night with electricity, fresh and waste water and 250m from village centre.
Slopes not too busy for February half term, some tourists from Alpe d'Huez came across to Auris for the quieter slopes.
A lovely family skiing destination with the option of extending to full area for skiers who like to do multiple different runs or want more challenging runs.
