Great place on warmer days when snow cover is spars at lower elevations. If you know where to go you can find some nice pow and off piste even on the driest day.

Good option when snow conditions in the nearby low altitude resorts, are less suitable.
Very fun after a dump.
Not a lot of slopes and the lifts are quite slow. Lots of bottlenecks.
Very fun when it's sunny, lovely restaurant on top of the mountain. Amazing link between the two ski areas.

Kaprun is great for all, to see Austria in the snow, to ski and snowboard. Ive been a few times and it just gets better everytime, I never want to leave. There is off piste on piste snow parks fun runs, kaprun has it all. Great for the family or a mates trip, you really cant go wrong here. With Zell Am See so close as well and easily accessible areas, Kaprun is honestly one of the best.

Maiskogel Kaprun is another family ski hill rising a more than respectable 960m above town. It has wonderful piste to suit all snow riders, winding their way back down to Kaprun. Brilliant views plus numerous bars & restaurants make it a real surprise package. The gondola provides ease of access to newer skiers & the 3K K-onnection gondolas link it to Kitzsteinhorn.

Kaprun and the Maiskogel/Kitzsteinhorn have everything for every kind of skier. For a relatively new skier (and family) that can sometimes still be a bit apprehensive, the area and locals couldn't be less intimidating. The runs are fantastic and cater for young and old, new and experienced and all are made to feel welcome. The accommodation, apres and food options are brilliant too. I can't recommend this place highly enough; definitely one which all snowsporters should try!

Love Austria resorts as a destination whole but Kaprun has the advantage of being all year round. You need to try summer glacier skiing/boarding at least once.

Kaprun and the surrounding area of Zell am See is a family favourite of ours. A good mix of blues and reds for getting comfortable and some nice black runs for the more advanced. The ski park is fantastic and the snowboarders in our group love it. Quieter village vibe but with some good bars and the odd club or two. Would thoroughly recommend it to others.

Fabulous glacier resort. Snow sure pistes on the glacier. Good bars and restaurants on and off the mountain. Lift passes are expensive because include 3 areas, its a shame you cant get a lift pass for just Kaprun. We are returning for a 2nd time this January

Nice family location, small ski area but close access to the glacier and Zell ski areas. Would visit again but due to the small ski area its not best for groups of advanced skiers.

Best early and late skiing option in Austria, more suitable for experienced skiers the height means conditions are good all winter just be aware that you'll be taking t bars and there will be race teams and courses taking up a lot of the mountain

Went with my family and friends for a holiday. The ski school was great with the children and each day they came home having learnt new skills. The slopes were good for the more experienced skiers and snowboarders.

My family and I went with some other friends for two weeks. The slopes were fairly quiet and good for intermediate level skiers and snowboarders. There are parts that are good for higher level people as well.

Kaprun has long been known within Austria, Germany and Eastern Europe as one of the better glacier resorts in the Alps. The Kitzsteinhorn has it all, at milder prices than Swiss, French and Tyrolean resorts. During the holiday weeks at Christmas, february and easter, the glacier is heaving, but if you can catch it inbetween in March and a window in January you can get it with relatively short lift lines. There are a multitude of well-established ski schools, such as Hartweger and Preghenella, who have been teaching from beginner to expert for decades, and during the main winter season, the Lechnerberg and Maiskogel slopes provide excellent beginner terrain. The glacier area itself has everything a skiier or boarder could want, from wide motorway red pistes, mogul fields, rock drops, mellow cruisey blues, technical blacks and steep, open big-mountain faces. The alititude, latitude and size of the resort means there is usually some quality snow to be found even a few days after the last snowfall. The Kitzsteinhorn hosts three terrain parks and one superpipe during the main season, from small boxes and roller to pro line kickers and complex multi-rail features. Avalanches, navgiation and crevasses are a real and fatal threat in the off-piste here. There is accommodation to suit a range of in the pleasant village of Kaprun, as well as great restaurants such a Hilberger's, and there is a lively apres bar at the base of the Maiskogel.
