Great resort for families, great connection with ski lifts and comprehensive pass. Maybe not too much to offer to experts in immediate proximity

Although at a low altitude, the village of Ellmau is a perfect ski base, particularly for families. The village itself is picturesque, with many outstanding accomodation options. Ski welt as a ski area is immense and takes a lot of skiing to cover completely. Overall, the slopes are perhaps best suited to intermediate skiers, but there is certainly something for everyone. We absolutely adored the ski school and it remains the best tuition we have received. For this reason I have to recommend the resort for any families looking to ski in Janauary/February (peak season).

Have enjoyed skiing at all the SkiWelt resorts, but Ellmau is a particular favorite. Nice mix of terrain for different levels of skier (not so much for advanced), great restaurant selection, fast lifts and gondolas, easy access point to Scheffau, Going, Brixen-in-Thal, many convenient housing options (hotels, boutique establishments, AirBnB, etc.). And all for a really good price.
