Overview

Encamp is the gateway to the Grandvalira ski area, offering seamless access to its extensive 210 km of slopes via the impressive Funicamp gondola. At 6 km long, the Funicamp is one of Europe’s longest cable cars, connecting the town of Encamp to the Solanelles area in just 15 minutes. The gondola ride itself is an experience, offering stunning panoramic views of the snow-covered Pyrenees. Encamp’s location, just a 10-minute drive from Andorra la Vella, makes it a convenient base for skiers and snowboarders looking to combine a mountain holiday with city exploration.

The Solanelles area at the top of the Funicamp is where the slopes begin, with some of the best views in Grandvalira. From here, you can access a range of terrain suitable for all skill levels, whether you’re a beginner seeking wide, forgiving pistes or a more advanced skier ready to explore the variety of blue, red, and black runs the region has to offer. Encamp’s connection to the larger ski area makes it an excellent starting point for discovering Grandvalira’s many slopes and attractions.

Encamp is also known for its quieter and more traditional atmosphere. While it lacks the bustling après-ski scene of other resorts like Pas de la Casa, it compensates with charm and history. The town’s old quarter is a must-visit, offering a glimpse into Andorra’s heritage with landmarks like the Ethnographic Museum housed in Casa Cristo, a beautifully preserved 19th-century Andorran home. Art and history enthusiasts will also appreciate the nearby Romanesque church of Sant Romà de les Bons, as well as the Automobile Museum, home to one of southern Europe’s largest collections of vintage cars and memorabilia.

For dining, the Solanelles area features two standout restaurants at the top station of the Funicamp. The self-service restaurant on the ground floor provides a variety of quick options, while El Racó de Solanelles on the second floor specializes in Argentinian-style grilled meats and boasts stunning views over the valley.

Beyond skiing, Encamp offers activities such as snowshoeing and ski mountaineering. One highlight is the scenic Camí de les Pardines trail, which leads to Lake Engolasters. For a more relaxing experience, visitors can indulge in treats at local patisseries, with Granja Casal Fleca being a particular favorite.

As someone who has only skied twice. This is my first ski week. Only ever been for a day. This resort is fantastic. It gave my friends a chance to have a go at the black slopes and I could relax and do the red/ blues ones. Lots of places to use the toilet and get food. Plenty of slops. Could stay here for ages. Highly recommend.

Been to Andorra and loved it. Prices are fair and you can have quiet but also party! Recommended for beginner/ medium / advanced - not so much off routes available
