What Skiers Say About Sunshine Village

Sunshine Village attracts skiers and snowboarders of all levels, from beginners to experts, with many reviewers highlighting the extensive terrain spread across three interconnected mountains. The snow quality and powder receive consistent praise, alongside the variety of runs and lack of serious lift queues compared to European or other North American resorts. Reviewers frequently mention the long season, high elevation, and well-groomed pistes. Common criticisms include expensive lift tickets and on-mountain food, flat sections that challenge snowboarders, limited on-mountain accommodation, and the distance from Banff requiring gondola access. Several users note that the resort is family-friendly but lacks a strong après-ski atmosphere on the mountain itself.

This ski resort is very good, but definitely has its downsides. Its far away from Calgary (1.5 hours) and has a 170$ day lift tickets. It can be made better by getting a ride up there and buying discounted tickets though. Overall it is still a great hill with over 120 runs for all ages and skills.

Super family station, lots of different terrain for everyone. Did the delirium dive for the first time and it was a super experience: very impressive views up there but not that difficult to ski if you have a good level!

Great place, foods super expensive.

Ski lift moves pretty quickly, but this place is pretty popular so if its busy youll be waiting quite a while.
Getting ski rentals also takes wayyyy too long.

Sunshine village is a great ski resort, especially when its good weather. Their over all piste level is not to high, so its especially great for not to advanced skiers. Also they dont got a to big terrain park. All in all on a sunny day a good resort to check out, especially with families and beginners. Also ski school is awesome there

I learned how to snowboard with their lessons and their school is awesome. I like the variety of green runs that allow me to practice, and most of the blue runs are also quite easy for a beginner snowboarder like myself.

I think sunshine is my favorite hill in Alberta!

Sunshine Village has a great lift system. All chairs are high speed 4 person seating, I believe. One lift is going to be upgraded to a six person covered chair next year.
The ski runs off each chair offer a family varied challenge, meaning an average, medium, and expert skier can complete their chosen run and meet at the lift to ride together, great groomed runs for this experience.

Great resort , lots of open alpine skiing with lots of variety, get it on a fresh snow day and its a fantastic resort with lots of secret areas to find fresh lines, even on a busy day due to the size of the resort it feels relatively quiet.

Sunshine Is a must-have experience. The gorgeous runs along the whole resort are one of a kind. The views from the top on the Great Divide are all too stunning and shocks me with its beauty every time. I like to visit sunshine multiple times a year for its amazing snow, runs and views! And after all that, enjoying a refreshing beverage with a well deserved meal at the village restaurant and bar tops off the experience as a day to never forget.

Not ideal for kids due to frequent flat spots. 4 chair lifts all close to the main area which is great. Great tree runs right off the main runs all throughout resort. Has a ski out and end of day you can ski right to your vehicle.

The area you can ski at sunshine is huge. Plenty of options for all abilities. I would say the runs are shorter so you spend more time on chairlifts. But the snow is amazing and its fairly quiet so I would recommend it. Get of at the mid station where is is quiet and youll have a great time.

Sunshine is unique amongst resorts that provide a full range of in area skiing but also several extreme off piste options that will test the most hardened thrill seeking rider/skier. Delirium Dive and Wild Wild West are access with an avalanche beacon transmitter only with a pal/shovel etc. and the south side chutes are awesome alternatives. Combined with groomed cruisers and only natural snow makes it a must do.

First visit to Sunshine Resort and we staying in the resort at the only lodge/hotel on the mountain. It wasn't like I had previously vacationed. First of all, the ski hill is located a little drive outside of banff, lots of busses from Banff to Sunshine run all day if you stay in Banff. You park at the base of the mountain, and take about 15-20 gondola ride up to the resort. This gondola runs during ski hill opening hours except Friday it stays open until about 10pm. So with that being said, you are on the mountain after hours, not able to go check out Banff and other activities after skiing.

It is beautiful! Large! Lots and lots of runs, almost 360° of runs! Lots of lifts, reasonable lines on Saturday, Friday was quite quiet with almost no waits.

During ski hours there are a good variety of dining. After skiing/evening dining is limited and expensive of course, there is a Rustic bar style, high end and sophisticated but casual option. Very very quiet after hours, not much going on.

Hotel is beautiful but doesn't even have mini fridges or microwaves so you are forced to eat out or pack in dry foods/snacks/fruit. I'd suggest bringing a cooler. Hotel buffet breakfast was way over priced. Hot tub was great! They also had little evening activities posted like smores from 8-9pm and tobogganing from 7-8pm.

Ski School lessons and childcare were 5⭐️! My 3 year old did 2 full days of Tiny Tigers which offered 2, 2 hour lessons per day plus outdoor play, inside play and food. Instructors were fabulous and kids were in small groups. I was so impressed how the instructors played with the kids non stop, not just watched them play with eachother.

Overall, loved the ski hill and ski school. For me, ill stay in Banff next time so I can sight see the area, enjoy Apres Ski events and check out other local activities. Will save some money staying in Banff too.

Great resort with lots of different terrain. The lifts going to the top are long and slow and right into the wind which isnt great. Snow is usually pretty good, lots for experts and beginners also. If youre looking for a terrain park with jumps there isnt much, mostly rails or XL jumps once they have their big park open.

Great time with friends, good food, fun runs.

Itll never be my go to but this season it has Albertas best snow so Ive gone a few times and honestly Ive began to like it a little more than when I first came. The gondola up does suck - it takes a while forsure.
But there are some hidden gem tree runs to be found and some awesome terrain once you know where to look.
Short runs but on recovery days those can be nice too haha

Sunshine village is an oasis for snow sports. You can skin up instead of taking the gondola for added challenges, or take the gondola. Sunshine can only be reached from a gondola, so no cars up there. The hotel is therefore directly on the slopes with the most amazing views. There are runs for everyone, and my favourite thing is the wall facing the hotel. It allows you to meander between green, blue, powder and black runs. Really awesome.
It usually is favored by Ullr with plenty of beautiful snow. Staff is polite and nice. A nice place to discover, for sure

The resort is expansive with a wide range of terrain for all types and levels of riding from the bunny hill to delirium dive and the Wild West, sunshine is a great resort and well worth a visit with a few tips and tricks to help out along the way: always rent at the Salomon pro tent on your left at the top of the gondola and return at the base by taking the banff avenue ski out
