Norquay is a great hill for those of an intermediate to advanced level visiting Banff however for experts who are comfortable with with double blacks and advanced terrain it may leave something to be desired. Perfect for families as it is close to town and has a lower cost than nearby resorts.

The runs here are more difficult than some at Marmot and as a beginner, at the time, I felt intimidated. I was working hard to get out of my snow plow tendencies so I worked on the small hills and even the bunny hill shifting my weight and feeling my edges. It was a true bluebird day and its lodged in my memory as one of the most beautiful days Ive ever been on a ski hill. My sister went to ski with my son who was 12 at the time- he lived the more advanced runs. The face of Norquay is something to behold for sure. One day

A smaller resort with lots of wide groomed runs and family friendly smaller runs. But don't be fooled, this is a sneaky good resort on a pow day if you know where to look. Easily accessible from banff makes hotels and rides easy to figure out.

Norquay is the last resort you should go to if you fine yourself near Banff or Lake Louise. While it does have good tree runs, so does sunshine village or lake Louise, so choose one of those. Norquay is not very beginner friendly as it only had one short carpet area. It has a very cozy lodge though, so lunch times should be dragged out.

I live in Banff so this is our local hill. Close to town. I love Norquay. Great groomers and bumps. Its small but packs in a big punch. Steep and icy at the top just for a couple turns and then awesome. Cant beat the big chair when it snows. Its steep and deep and fantastic fall line. Lodge is great, also has tubing for family fun. Staff is great, lift lines are quick. Love Norquay!!

Very family friendly and local resort often over looked with neighbors like Lake Louise and Sunshine. Great travel time from Banff. Lots of steep terrain to push your boundaries. Great learner areas and amazing ski school. Arguably one of the best ski schools. Pioneers with the new PSIC organization.
Give them a shot on your next vacation.

Norquay is close to Banff where there are plenty of accomodations and night life. I would classify it as a ski trip destination, but if in the area is worth spending a day there.

Great local resort for Banff. If your looking for a world class ski destination. Head down the road to Sunshine or Lake Louise. If your looking to stay in Banff and get some turns in, come here. Great place for warm up or cool down days, family ski days, people new to snow sports. Great mountain views and the proximity to Banff make this an excellent option.

Often gets flack for being icy, but in the event of a fresh dump its really a hidden gem, usually more quiet of the Banff big 3, excellent terrain especially as you push further into the hill.

Mt Norquay is the perfect resort to get some good runs in on a powder day at Banff. Whilst not being the biggest resort, Norquay offers some of the best powder and some awesome runs, ranging from greens to blacks. They also have the best views in Banff, looking down over the town and across to Mount Rundle!

I love how quiet this resort is. Norquay doesn't have any alpine terrain but the designated expert terrain zone and night skiing make this a fantastic destination for locals looking for quick laps without line ups.

Moguls moguls moguls! So many moguls here as there is a large number of ungroomed terrain littered around the mountain that also make for amazing pow runs when the snow hits with little traffic to fight with. The mountain is quite small and doesn't reach alpine terrain though so there is much to be desired for big mountain terrain but as an easy coast skier, this place feels like a nice slice of home with a lot more snow.

With night skiing being an option here and most of the lighting in their small park zone, this is a great spot for after work/school park laps with plenty of spectators from the lift.
Small mountain though so not much for massive feature or variety but you'll be able to clear lap after lap with small lift lines.

There is little to no slack country here as they have heavily marked borders and no access to alpine zones. I'm sure there are some hidden gems here but they must be quite difficult to find or require ducking a rope to get to.

Groomers are actually great despite the small mountain thanks to the clear seperation between runs and little cross over with other difficulties meaning you can have a great top to bottom run without having to people dodge. Unfortunately there are not very many groomed runs as they favor moguls but there is much to enjoy on the groomers they do have.

Has enough tracks and not overly busy Mon thru Fri allowing a full days ski in a few hours. Still reasonably priced.
Great views and just outside Banff townsite. 'Our little secret !

Norquay is a family friendly resort with a variety of runs but recognized for steep runs. Parking is simply. If you want to wear yourself out you can because the lift lines are small and you can get a variety of runs that include steep, moguls, trees, technical rails and jumps to speed on Giver Grandi. And thats just the morning. If fact you could go into Banff for lunch and come back and do it all over again. Mid week is just constantly lapping.
The lodge has a good apres vibe.

Underrated, compact ski hill closest to Banff. Mix of steep, long mogul runs on expert terrain and groomed runs ideal for practice and perfecting your technique.
Lodge is fabulous with good food and drink options and a wonderful terrace when the sun is shining.
Not extensive terrain but perfect for one or two days (or longer after a powder dump!).

Great access to Banff apre (on the other side of hwy 1). Family friendly with lots of mountain wildlife to watch. Super early opening, mid November, usually great coverage. Stunning views of Mt Rundle across the valley. Lots of easy runs and some very challenging ones too. It doesn't get the heavy traffic that Lake Louise and Sunshine get so it has a more relaxed atmosphere. I highly recommend a visit. A full season pass for Seniors was $99 in 23/24.

Staying in Banff at one of the many hotel/suite/apartment options gives access to Banff township with its extensive food, shopping and bars. The excellent bus links to the three ski areas provide easy access.

Norquay is probably the steepest and in a good year the best for powder, but the runs are shorter.

Sunshine is the best for variety including accessing some step and deep powder bowls off Goats Eye.

For the scenery a trip to Lake Louise is a must.

A trip to the hot springs to relax is also worth a go.
