Best Ski Resorts Near Innsbruck

If you like skiing in Austria, there’s a good chance you’ve flown into Innsbruck. The picturesque mountains as you come in for landing really get you in the mood for some powder turns or serious après partying.

There are so many brilliant ski resorts near Innsbruck, but which should you visit this year?

Mayrhofen (4.55/5) - 1:10 hour transfer time from Innsbruck

The recipient of the silver medal for Best Ski Resorts for Experts at the Snomad Ski Resort Awards, Mayrhofen is the perfect resort to come and challenge yourself. It’s home to the steepest groomed run in Austria with gradients of over 78%. This resort is popular with families, scoring 4.48/5.00, but is excellent for a group of young adults. The après-ski options (4.59/5.00) are fantastic, with bars on and off the mountain.

We’d recommend staying above or by the Penkenbahn as the hill through the town can be a killer in the morning. The resort is a strong favourite with European travellers, and as it’s part of the Zillertal pass, you have 540km of piste to explore.

Check out the Mayrhofen resort guide to see why the Snomad community loves it so much!

Sölden (4.6/5.00) - 1:30 hour transfer from Innsbruck

Sölden is undoubtedly one of the most complete resorts you’ll find within a couple of hours of Innsbruck. It’s a firm favourite with the Snomad community. If you’re looking for a snowsure destination, Sölden will definitely give you that. Wide pistes and immaculately groomed runs (4.79/5.00) have resulted in Sölden being an incredibly popular destination for intermediate to expert skiers. For those who are after off-slope experiences, the 007 Elements Experience is a must for any James Bond enthusiasts.

Sölden has a lively après-ski scene (4.57/5.00) and hosts some brilliant events, including the opening race of the Audi FIS World Cup and the Electric Mountain Festival.

Söll - SkiWelt (4.54/5.00) 1 hour transfer from Innsbruck

Whilst Söll - SkiWelt isn’t the highest of resorts, it makes up for it with its average snowfall. 280cm of snow falls on the 275km ski area. The entire SkiWelt area gets rave reviews from the Snomad community, but we think Söll is the most complete town in the area. If you enjoy skiing after hours, then the night skiing will be right up your alley. As with all resorts on this list, Söll - SkiWelt scores strongly across all categories apart from powder and tree runs. If you like long, smooth runs, then you’ll love a week exploring this SkiWelt Wilder Kaiser – Brixental ski area.

A lift efficiency score of 4.85/5.00 puts it among the best, which means you won’t be queuing, and you can ski as many of the 225 runs with ease.

St Anton am Arlberg (4.55/5.00) - 1:30 hours from Innsbruck.

If you’re after après and freeride skiing, then chances are you’ve already been to St Anton am Arlberg, but for those who haven’t, you must give it a go. Scoring a 4.79/5.00 rating for après-ski, this resort was the back-to-back world champion for good reason. No doubt you’ll have seen videos from the Krazy Kangaruh and Mooserwirtz. These are up there with La Folie Douce and Coco Ricos as the most iconic après bars in the world.

With easy access to many other resorts, freeride enthusiasts must ski the Run of Fame at the Arlberg. An off-piste rating of 4.46/5.00 is exceedingly strong. Skiing champagne powder then dancing with a glass of champagne (or beer in my case) sounds like a fantastic way to spend a week away from the office!

Ischgl (4.60/5.00) - 1:30 hours from Innsbruck

This resort is perfect for snowboarders, scoring a near-perfect 4.86/5.00, making it feel like a top choice for those seeking a dedicated snowboarding experience in Europe.

Ischgl excelled at the 2025 Snomad Ski Resort Awards, and it is a strong contender for the best resort in Europe. As of this season, the resort is also available on the Icon pass, which means that our neighbours across the pond will be able to discover its brilliance.

As with other Austrian resorts, the infrastructure ensures your entire holiday runs smoothly. What can I say? The accommodation is excellent, the lift systems are world-class, and the skiing leaves nothing to be desired.

If this sounds like your cup of tea, check out the Ischgl resort guide!
