Having been living in Sandpoint for 7 years now, Schweitzer has definitely become a second home for me, not sure what winter would be like without it and not in any hurry to find out!

Its an overall amazing fun mountain to ride from beginner runs to advanced. Tons of family friendly activities to do. Live bands and multiple bars for the night life. Beautiful hotels and condos. Not to mention the food is spectacular.

Schweitzer has something for everyone. Locals are friendly and willing to share their knowledge. On a sunny day it is one of the best resorts in the world. Getting to see Canada, Washington, Montana and Idaho from the peak is amazing. The resort has been upgrading for years and continues to put forth an amazing product.
It is not Vail but that is the point. You can find stashes for days after a storm. Groomers are always on par. XC is available, tubing is right there. The beginner area is cordoned off from the regular area.
Lodging and amenities are improving every year and there are tons of local options. At ~11 miles form town you have many options there too. You bring the party but there are great spots to eat and drink in town as well.

I love Schweitzer! Even though it's on the other end of the state, I still consider it my home mountain. It's a great resort, the town of Sandpoint is awesome. A ski trip here is what skiing used to be like.

Schweitzer is a good family friendly mountain with good views and groomers. People are very nice and will help you if you need something. The cat skiing operation is super rad and the guides are incredibly knowledgeable.

Very fun mountain with great terrain and snow!!!! We visited this pnw resort in Idaho during February and were blown away!! We were lucky to be there during a storm cycle that brought almost a foot of snow!!! With what seemed to be an almost empty mountain we were lapping untracked fresh pow for hours!!!(off great escape quad , white lightning run) the chairs all access the ridge line of the mountain that brings stunning views of Lake Pend orielle, the surrounding mountains and cloud inversions!!The front side of the resort(south bowl) offers wide open bowls off the ridge for intermediate to advanced riders that lead into great tree skiing . Head to the back side(outback bowl) for some expert terrain in tight steep trees or take on the lakeside chutes if youre feeling sendy and want some air!!! We had one of the best days of our season here with great snow and awesome terrain. Overall this is a good mountain for intermediate to expert riders, lacking a bit in the green beginner runs only off the creek side express chair.on site lodging is available but also limited as well as apres and food accommodations, but this all helps with keeping Schweitzer quite empty and lacking of giant crowds. If you want uncrowded quiet resort with no lines so you can lap untracked powder I would really consider this pnw gem!!! Thanks Schweitzer!!!!!!

My favorite part is the view of Lake Pend Orielle from the top of Schweitzer on a clear day. Fast lifts to get up to various expert terrain, if even a bit of traversing is required. Then theres some slower lifts, but the legs are happy for a break and it fits with the overall atmosphere of a previously family run Mtn. Its great if you catch a storm of light powder, but predominately is lake effect heavier snow.
Apres is about the beers and catching up with friends as locals. Theres some serious professionals here, so dont try to keep up. Theres one place for a fancier cocktail in the new hotel, and a fireplace to hang out next to, both indoor and outdoor.
After surviving the bus ride down to the red barn to the car (more quickly than anticipated) theres more apres action in adorable Sandpoint. Not all restaurants, or even bars serve hard alcohol (tough liquor laws) and although you may smell it, that THC is illegal in Idaho.

Very good runs, especially when you get to the backside and can drop into the bowl and hit the big Hollywood and big Bertha jumps best feeling ever
