Really enjoy it here. The family has had a season pass for 10 years. Great place to teach kids and some good chutes on the backside

The lines were long for the lifts. Mountain was in horrible shape. Lines to get our pass took 2 hours. Just was not an enjoyable trip at all.

Where I learned to snowboard, sierra is great for beginners, they have an amazing beginner zone, with a good curve up to the blue squares for when youre more confident in your abilities.

Originally I rented a snowboard for this trip. I had only been snowboarding maybe three or four times prior to this trip. I had never been to a ski resort before this. When we arrived the mountain that came down to the main lodge was Soo intimidating! The first day went pretty well until just before sun down. Even though the snow was perfect! I crashed pretty good and pulled the boot right off the board. So my day was done. The shop wouldn't work on it because it was a rental. So I figured I would just sit and drink the next day at the lodge building at the bottom of that mountain I talked of earlier. It was a great lodge. Big fire going. Great atmosphere. My friends had other plans however. They talked me into renting some skis. I had never skied before in my life. And it was cheap, if I remember correctly it was $25-$30 for the day. Anyways, I was a very proficient roller bladder. I didn't know this at the time, but if you can roller blade... You can ski! So, after getting my skis on I made one pass through the bunny slope to practice a snow plow. But it turns out the only place I ever used the snow plow was in the lift line. I never waited very long in any lift line on the mountain. And there are several to get to the top. I took to skiing straight away. It was Soo much fun! After a bit I was flying. I felt very comfortable on skis. Far more comfortable than on the snowboard. I'm a very good skater but it's not quite the same. So as it was I was only barely a proficient snowboarder. It was an absolutely beautiful day to be skiing anywhere! I couldn't have asked for a better day! I didn't know it at the time but the snow was absolutely perfect! It wasn't until I skied at another Ski resort that I realized just how good the snow was at Sierra! As the day progressed the better I got. That hill(No longer a mountain)that came down to the resort lodge was nothing to ski down. Eventually I had a go at the Black Diamond moguls. I had come a long way from the morning...but could only manage a few moguls before I would eat it. But at least I tried. The snow that day was perfect! Some groomed and some powder right off course. I was too afraid to go to far from the approved skiing runs. If you crash in deep powder you can get yourself into serious trouble. So I stayed where you were supposed to be. I'm not sure if there will ever be a time that I get to go ski and have as good of conditions I had that day at Sierra. I will never forget that day! The snow at Sierra was awesome! They know what they're doing!

Great family resort that is still locally owned. Good value for South Lake Tahoe. The wildfire that burned through three years ago, had a serious negative effect on the tree skiing, which was the best in the region. Good Parks, and an amazing staff. You also will not have the long with lines that the major players have which is nice If your goal is to ski or snowboard and not spend half your day in line.
