What Skiers Say About Val Thorens

Val Thorens attracts a wide range of skiers and snowboarders, from beginners to experts, with many praising its high altitude for snow reliability throughout the season. The resort is part of the Three Valleys, offering extensive terrain and well-maintained pistes with efficient lifts and minimal queuing. Après-ski is consistently highlighted as lively and energetic, with popular venues like Folie Douce and Bar 360, though some note it caters more to a younger, party-focused crowd. Most accommodation is ski-in/ski-out, and reviewers appreciate the variety of runs, though several mention that food and drinks are expensive. Beginners note limited green runs and that many blues can be challenging or icy, while advanced skiers praise off-piste options and access to neighbouring valleys.

Val Thorens in the 3 valleys is one of my all time favourite resorts. There is a huge ski terrain, plenty of apres ski and suitable for all levels, with plenty of runs for advanced skiers.

Lovely long wide runs. A little busy close to town but quieter up to. Plenty of food options and pretty good value (for a ski resort). Apres was good. Overall, we loved it and would definitely come back

Val Thorens is great for both beginners and experts. It has a great range of runs. I was part of a ski school at intermediate level and we ended up at different places everyday. Although it was the end of the season because it is one of the highest resorts, or guide was able to hunt out the best snow and runs that werent overcrowded. Val Thorens is also known for some of the best après which didnt let us down.

We went on a uni ski trip here and it was insane! Bluebirds were stun and apres was even better cant beat bombing down the blue after having one too many at folie! Some reds were definitely more challenging but overall the routes were really scenic and enjoyable.

I first went to Val Thorens as a teenager and couldn't believe how big the ski area was and it felt like we were exploring new pistes every day. I have returned several times as a adult and now take my teenagers on the same adventures I used to have. My favourite is running non stop from the top of Cime Caron lift at the highest point of Val Thorens, all the way down to the base station of Les Menuires going on technical reds, high speed blues, wide open greens through Val Thorens centre. An amazing experience. The resort itself is fantastic with ski to your door is a lot of residences and we love going to the sports centre in the evening for games of badminton and table tennis. The highest pub in Europe is always on our to do list as well!

Great high altitude snow sure resort. The lift systems are mostly all new and efficient. The ski pass is expensive at nearly 400euros but it's the biggest linked resort in the world.

Val Thorens was fantastic. the beginners slopes were gentle and not over crowded and best of all I felt safe. There was loads of loads of powdery snow and I went in December so early in the season. We had a great holiday and really recommend it

Huge resort with the 3 valleys connecting. A bit Brit heavy and very very expensive . 10 quid a pint standard and 20 quid for a cheap meal. Loved the skiing, but not for those on a budget. If I visit the 3 valleys again it will be to one of the different towns.

Val Thorens is a brilliant resort for beginners /intermediates. With majority blue and red runs, there is plenty to go at. A 6 day lift pass is about 340 for the local one and 395 for the three valleys. Val Thorens is one of the more expensive resorts with the average meal setting you back about 25-30. This ski resort boasts some of the best après ski with Folie Douce at the top of the Plein Sud chair lift and Bar 360 along the 2 Combes green run, both bars have DJs and plenty of events take place here. There are also many bars and restaurants to eat/drink. Aside for skiiing/snowboarding there are plenty of activities. A zip line that crosses over the resort is only 40! There is a toboggan run, Ice driving experience, paragliding, snow shoeing and much more. The best way to get to Val Thorens is to fly into Geneva and take the 2.5 hour transfer, if you can afford private is always best for a longer journey. Accommodation wise there is a range of different types from low budget hostel/ apartment to 4-5* hotels and chalets. This resort has something for everyone, and you will never be short of entertainment. All in all this is a brilliant resort to visit wether its your first or tenth time.

VT is an AMAZING place for all types of riders/skiers. The blue runs are long and very spacious. You can find blue runs that please the cruisers and also the ones that start to challenge boarders/skiers that are looking to advance their techniques. The reds runs are absolutely marvellous. Some can get steep at certain stretches and somewhat a bit icy but all adds to the fun of adapting to the changes of the terrain and improving your reactions to the changes. The blacks slopes are awesome and challenging. From them you can easily go off-piste and return to the runs with no problem. At the back of VT, you can find Orelle valley which is a little hidden gem. The off-piste is surreal. Here you can play for a little while on the blues and reds and after exploring the area the return to VT is ever so easy and brings you back to more fun in the blues and reds slopes of VT !!

The blue run NEARLY everyone takes through the resort when leaving or returning to the resort gets moguled and full of falling beginners by 10.00am.The long second lift queue every morning after the first lift up the mountain is tedious. Sometimes mogul fields on connecting runs are left unbeaten overnight. Not a great resort for beginners at times though always snow sure. Too many people arrive for the resort unfortunately. The lift system is ok but Italian resorts have introduced improved lifts faster. More seats. Heated seats. Covers for when it is windy. Fewer bottlenecks. The skiing is great but too busy overall.Links to the other valleys is useful.

Val Thorens was the ideal ski resort, it had incredible Apres ski. A beautiful village, with lots of bars, restaurants, and clubs. The skiing was exceptional, I went in late March and it was brilliant, especially when you have a pass to ski all 4 valleys. Across a week you will constantly be doing new runs! The only down side is it can be quite expensive, especially going out. But there are definitely ways to make it cheaper for yourself, like packed lunches for example. I would wholeheartedly recommend VT for any skier or boarder.

Slopes incredibly busy week after Feb Half term. Bottom carved up to slushy moguls and packed with people, huge lift queues. If you are looking for a quiet resort for family this isn't great. Personally I wouldn't come back again. Lots of groups of lads going as fast as they can without any regard for children or any inexperienced skiers/boarders that could get in their way.

Beautiful resort, never had to worry about snow coverage due to the altitude, lacking tree coverage. Lifts are fast and efficient rarely had to queue other than for first lift of the day.

Great trip in val thorens. The ski resort is amazing. The town has plenty to do and plenty of apres or food options. It was very busy around the main town on the slopes but if you ventured further away from the main town it is quieter
