What Skiers Say About Tignes

Tignes attracts primarily intermediate to advanced skiers and snowboarders, with reviewers consistently noting the vast ski area, high altitude ensuring reliable snow coverage, and strong connections to Val d'Isère. The après-ski scene, particularly venues like Cocorico's and Folie Douce, receives frequent praise. Multiple users mention well-groomed pistes, efficient lift systems, and minimal queuing outside peak periods. Common criticisms include high prices for food, drink, and lift passes, limited terrain for complete beginners (many greens require blues to access), and a lack of tree-lined runs due to the high altitude. Several reviewers describe the resort architecture as functional rather than picturesque, and conditions can become icy or mogul-heavy by late afternoon.

This is definitely the best resort around. Apres ski is on top and nowhere else matches. Folie douce and Cocorico are the places to go!

We arrived mid Jan on the 10th. Whilst it took as a very long time to get there on a transfer coach due to a massive snow storm rolling in, it fortunately lead to the one of the best days of powder all week! It was my first time at Tignes and I must say we all had a great time! Tignes has a lot to offer for both skiers and aprés goers. Bollin cafe and Cocos were a daily visit for us. As well as this it is a hop away from Val were we often ended up at Follie for lunch and a bit of a boogie. The skiing was wonderful all week with a large variety of groomed and off piste slopes to go down. Though this is true the slopes around Val Claret were challenging for the less experienced memebers of the group. Some of the blues were more like reds, and slopes became very icy by the end of the week. Although there was a free bus the takes you down the mountain to Le Lac where there is some more beginner friendly skiing. All and all we had an amazing time and will definitely be visiting again!

I found the resort quiet during the week and the ski area was huge. I was lucky with the conditions as it snowed the first 2 days and the snow was perfect to ski on. I stayed with friends in Village Montana which was lovely and spacious and good value for money. There was also lots of grocery shops nearby, eapecially the spar that was right downstairs. I went twice to this amazing burrito bowl place called Tignes Cuisine Street food that is cheap, big portions, healthy and really tasty. Outside of skiing we visited Val D'isere and went for drinks and dinner in Le Lac. Tignes Le Lac where we were staying was the quieter family-friendly part of Tignes, I enjoyed how quiet it was and that we were a short distance from Val Claret which is the party bit. Although there were still good pubs and nice restaurant bars where we were.

I was an au pair and the resort is very family friendly with a swimming pool, park and trampolines - if skiing isn’t for your kids! Definitely will be back the skiing itself is amazing and so many options for any level !

I went skiing with friends for a week in January 2026. We are mixed ability, so I attended ESF ski school all week whilst others made use of the more difficult slopes and off piste areas. We found there was a lot of options to suit everyone’s level

Tignes was a great resort although a bit on the smaller side in comparison to Val D but still plenty to do. Skiing was a little more difficult in the afternoon due to slushiness on the busier runs but that was because it was the end of march. Again Cocos steals the show, another one in Val Claret and we had better ski in / out accomodation although more basic and not as luxury as Val, limited chalet options but we wanted a cheaper trip so work perfectly

Great resort we stayed in Le Lac self catering ski in ski out which was great and easy access to lifts, so many red and blue runs to choose from and enough blacks, not many greens but we did ski one which was the only tree lined run. Plenty of places to stop for food and drinks on the slopes. We went to cocoricos for apres ski one night but unfortunately it was so cold our wine froze! We also managed to ski to Val d’isere but had to go down a tricky red to get there. Would definitely go back again and loved all the restaurants we tried in Le lac.

Worked a full season at tignes so ended up knowing the mountains really well. There's a bit of something for everyone, as well as events that take place from time to time to mix things up, such as a little water patch for people to climb up the hill a bit and attempt to ski/board over next to where most people accommodation would be

Excellent resort, beat for apres and Val disere link up. All around atmosphere beats most resorts as it is of the highest quality in the Alps, I would recommend staying as HIGH up as possible in the resort as we stayed at second resort to the bottom and it was tough to navigate daily from down there.

My new favourite ski resort! Easy access to Val D’Isere, glacier and other Tignes villages from Val Claret - far easier than 3 valleys. Skiing fantastic, true apres-ski at Cocoricos until 8:30, not 5pm when you should be finishing skiing!
