What Skiers Say About Peisey Vallandry

Peisey Vallandry attracts predominantly intermediate to advanced skiers and families seeking a quieter base with access to the Paradiski area. Reviewers consistently praise the extensive ski area connecting to Les Arcs and La Plagne, tree-lined runs, and relatively quiet slopes compared to neighbouring resorts. The village atmosphere is described as relaxed and family-oriented with limited nightlife, though some users note good restaurant options and proximity to après venues in Les Arcs. Common concerns include the lack of beginner terrain at resort level, higher prices during peak periods, and the need to take lifts to access green runs.

I have been skiing to a number of the resorts near Peisey, as well as others in France such as Flaine and Meribel, but Peisey is my favourite. While it has often been busy and can be expensive, this is definitely in part due to the time of year I have gone (in school holidays). The ESF ski school is the one I have used and is excellent with kind instructors with an expert knowledge of the domain. The size of the domain accessible is also amazing, with skiing from Aguille Rouge over 3000m down to Peisey incredible. The area caters for all abilities from beginners to competitive skiers. Lastly the boarder cross and snowpark are great too.

Peisey-Vallandry is well positioned in between the larger areas of La Plagne and Les Arcs, giving guests a wide range of options every day.

There is unfortunately no beginner piste at resort level. So begginers have to take the Vallandry gondola to the beginner slope higher up, or take the short bus to Arc 1800.

The resort is best suited for intermediate skiiers, with plenty of blues and easy reds to cruise around.

For advanced skiiers there are some VERY steep mogul fields to test yourself on.

A quite resort with an enormous ski area with lots of back country and off piste to explore as well as Les Arcs and La Plagne links to equate up to a massive ski area.

Peisey Vallandry is an all around resort. With easy access to the Les Arcs and La Plagne ski areas the number of runs (of all levels) are endless. Its definitely a great shout for families as its a quieter resort with only two bars of an evening. However with easy access to Les Arcs 1800 and the two bars hosting dj and band nights theres still plenty of après ski.

A great resort, slightly set apart from the busier and more commercial resorts of Les Arcs and La Plange. Whilst still offering a great range of runs - a lot being within the trees, making it a good option during poor visibility. The village itself is nice with a good choice of restaurants and plenty of accommodation close to the slopes. Both Les Arcs and La Plange are accessible by lift offering vast amounts of terrain.

Great base to access Les Arcs and La Plagne. Very quiet family oriented. Easily accessible from major international airports. New lift link between Les arcs 1800 and Arcs 1900 due to open next season, should be quicker and more weather sure.

Had a great trip to Peisey and Les Arc at the end of the season. They did an amazing job at keeping most runs open even with the temps hitting 22c. A great variety of runs. With beautiful tree lined blues and reds. Some trickier reds and blacks too. Stunning views and runs down from the Glacier. Some good places to eat and drink on the mountain. Pricey enough at the some of the bottom bars. Reasonable on the mountain. Stayed in a brilliant chalet. Fantastic holiday all round!

Fantastic location at the base of a couple of red and a nice smooth blue run. Lift options at both ends of the village with well maintained slopes. We visited in early April and there was snow down to resort level at 1600 and slopes were pretty quiet, never had to queue more than 2 minutes for any lifts or cable cars.

My families first experience of skiing and it is safe to say I have created a monster. All have caught the bug and are desperate to return. This is all down to the fabulous holiday created for us at Paisey. The facilities, the staff, the instruction was all second to none. Nothing was too much trouble, everyone was made to feel special and we all left with an enormous sense of achievement at the end of the week. Absolutely fabulous

Pros: connected to les arcs and la plagne ski areas so lots of skiing, easily accessible to beginner area, fantastic mountain restaurants, good apres especially at Arpette.
Cons: expensive as most French resorts are, accom options are limited if you want somewhere self catered, town is small and some nightlife but nothing compared to Val/three valleys, gets very busy during school holidays, ski pass now as expensive as Val.

Slopes were struggling with the warm weather.
That said higher up, snow was good.
Not sure why they don't provide spare \ empty cabins to uplift, midway up transarc, too big a queue.
Hardly any entertainment\restaurants in resort and last lift 6pm to link to Les Arcs.
Navette not ideal, difficult to determine routes and times

Great resort, slightly quieter than neighbouring Les Arc. Good that the ski pass also allows you into Les Arcs too. Free buses between resorts and to Nordic cite is a bonus.

I spent a 5 month winter season in the beautiful resort of Peisey Vallandry. Peisey is part of the Paradiski area and only a lift or two away from Les arcs with great connections by public transport to Les arcs also. It is also connected to La Plagne via the vanoise express gondola, so the ski area is massive. Peisey itself is a small town but is absolutely stunning with glimpses of Mont Blanc. There are plenty of amazing restaurants and bars. The nightlife is low key but a great atmosphere. Bar Mont Blanc has great live music and other live performances, great food and reasonably priced drinks. There are plenty of accomodation options. Getting to peisey is easy as its not far from bourg-st-Maurice so connections are regular and easy. Overall would reccomend for families, excellent ski area and beautiful views.

We were a family of beginner skiers all going to Ski School in the morning. The resort was well set up with enough amenities at the bottom to cater for lunch and dinner. The piste was well maintained and great for beginners and intermediates. The ESF team in Vallandry were so helpful. Can wait to go back in a couple of months!
