Glungezer, located near Innsbruck, offers a unique skiing experience with its long, natural ski runs and stunning panoramic views. The resort is particularly popular among advanced skiers due to its challenging terrain, including some of the longest descents in the region. The atmosphere is traditional and laid-back, focusing on the pure joy of skiing without the frills of larger resorts. The après-ski options are limited but cozy, with a few mountain huts providing warm, local cuisine. Glungezer is also known for its scenic hiking trails, making it a favorite for those who appreciate the natural beauty of the Alps. This resort is perfect for experienced skiers seeking a quieter, more authentic skiing experience.

Glungezer is one of my absolute favourite resorts to go to if you are looking for a quiet day or weekend of skiing in the Innsbruck region. Particularly on powder days, the off-piste is safe and brilliant, plus there are never any large queues as the resort remains mostly popular amongst locals. Highlights are definitely the tree runs- although these can be really tricky! The tobogganing track is also great fun and very, very fast. Overall, an excellent little resort if you are looking for quiet but challenging terrain.
