Galtur is my all time favourite ski resort! Partly because its part of the Paznaun valley, and so you are really getting 4 resorts in one (Galtur, Ischgl, Kappl, See) and the ski busses are fantastic so it is so easy to get around. Out of the four, Galtur is my preference - it is quiet, got lots of interesting terrain, and has a good number of huts which are all of a good standard. In fact, Weiberhimml hut in Galtur is probably my favourite mountain hut out of all (and Ive been to a lot!). The run on the right hand side of the Kopsee T-Bar is one of my favourite ever runs. Its not at all challenging but it is almost always empty and when there is fresh powder its magical. I have always said Galtur is my favourite place to ski, so much so that my fiancé actually proposed to me there, by the Alpkogelbahn top lift station, with the Ballunspitze in the background!

Galtur is a small friendly resorts with a good mix of slopes. Good for beginners and intermediates but limited for experts. An excellent bus service will take you to Ischgl, Kappl and See so if you have the area wide ski pass you can enjoy four different resorts. Apres ski is limited in Galtur. There is great walking and cross country skiing in the area as well.

I hadn't been skiing in 38 years, however after a significant life event I decided to go and see if I could get back out there and reignite my skiing passion again. Not only did it give me a buzz for skiing again, I enjoyed it so much I'm going back again this February. I took some refresher skiing lessons which were needed but also taught by a very knowledgeable and professional instructor. I met some amazing people, who I'll be meeting again when I go back in February. The resort was really good quality, the areas to ski were aimed at all levels. Everything just went well, so well I only fell 3 times, so pretty happy with that result after 38 years. Ten out of ten, would definitely recommend.

Quiet village with easy access to Ischgl. Quiet and simple slopes in Galtur itself which offer a nice change of pace for the rest of the area. Bierhole fantastic for touring and off piste.

Great all round resort for a first timer. Would highly recommend coming here. Variety of beginners, intermediate and advanced slopes.

This is a small, quiet resort, built in traditional Austrian style, with some decent value hotels. The après & places to eat out are pretty limited, being more of a family resort. The scenery is impressive, with a good variety of pistes, and a fair bit of off piste, but advanced/expert skiers/riders will probably have skied it out in a couple of days. Fortunately there is a good bus service down the valley to Ischgl, altho' the last bus back is fairly early. We spent most of the week in Ischgl or Kappl, as you get a lot more variety & après in there, without having to pay Ischgl hotel prices. However, watch out for all the half cut skiers/riders in Ischgl on the last run home!

Galturs main strength is its relative quietness compared to nearby ischgl. With most of the runs are Reds. This is great for intermediates looking for a quiet place to practice. However there is little for the milage hungry or expert individuals. The resort is accessible by the frequent bus from Ischgl and is the best place to be in the valley in poor visibility conditions. Powder will remain untracked for a couple of days after a snowstorm - there is little offpiste skiing outside of the marked offpiste runs.

Medium sized resort that is great for families. It does have a limited extend of challenging slopes but is great for beginners. The ski resort is not the most modern but does have a charme to it.
