Dorfgastein feels like back country skiing. And a much larger area than it looks as it links up with Grossarl in the next valley. Great huts for coffee and lunch breaks. A good change of ski terrain if staying in Bad Gastein with easy bus link.

We loved Dorfgastein/Grossatal getting the gondola up to the top from Dorfgastein you then get the choice of the various red runs through the trees back down to Dorfgastein or the wide open slopes down to grossatal. You can choose whether to do this in stages getting various fast chair lifts back to the top as you make your way over or ski from the top all the way to over without getting on a lift! Then get the gondola up from Grossatal and transverse across the mountains back to dorfgastein via the new 8 seater fast gondola to the top before skiing all the way down to dorfgastein. This is excellent skiing for intermediates -advanced. If you want to vary off the prepared piste, there are a number of ski routes to test your skills with the mogels. This is an excellent unknown ski area with many excellent ski huts with meals at very reasonable prices. The resorts have all types of accommodation from self catering apartments to 4 star hotels. The ski pass covers the area of the ski Amade giving access to 800km of skiing. Only 75 mins drive from Salzburg we thoroughly recommend these resorts.
