Why Kicking Horse is Highly Rated for Advanced Skiers
Kicking Horse has absolutely smashed it, earning a 4.73/5.00 rating from our advanced skiing community. Expert skier Richard nails it when he says "if you like steep chutes, steep bowls, and runs that put you in your place, Kicking Horse is the place for you." The terrain here doesn't mess about - we're talking steep lines that'll have your legs screaming and technical descents that demand your full attention. Advanced skier Rob reckons it's "by far the most difficult resort" he's ever skied, whilst Drew describes it as "easily the most butt puckering resort in Canada" with the best in-bounds chutes and bowls around. When the World Freeride Tour chooses to ski your in-bounds terrain, you know you're onto something special.
You'll need to earn your turns here with many of the best lines requiring 10-30 minute boot packs up the mountain ridge, but as advanced skier Jovica points out, there are "some insane lines" that are absolutely worth the effort. Expert skier John describes it as "probably the most intense resort in North America," highlighting the gnarliest terrain you'll find anywhere. The technical difficulty extends throughout the four bowls, with narrow tracks, proper exposure, and runs that genuinely test your limits. Advanced snowboarder Andrew sums it up perfectly: it "requires short hikes and steep technical sections to access a large part of the resort boundary" - essentially a step towards backcountry but with patrol and avalanche control. This is advanced skiing at its absolute finest.
