Skip the Queues: Why 3 Zinnen Dolomites is one of Italy’s Must-Visit Resorts
Picture this: you've spent a day powering through airports, rolling your ski bag up to your hotel and when you get to the first lift, you’re greeted with queues as far as your eyes can see. That might be a reality in some resorts but through strategic lift upgrades and investment, 3 Zinnen Dolomites has had their crosshairs set on reducing lift queues for quite some time.
Located in the heart of the gorgeous Dolomites, 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski resort hosts views to die for! With over 115 km of interconnected slopes across five distinct mountains, you’ll have an incredible time exploring no matter your ability. Intermediate skier Teresa described it as “Fabulous scenery, ultra blue skies and beautifully groomed runs, not a bad patch in sight.” Reading this, it’s quite clear why 3 Zinnen Dolomites has scored an overall rating of 4.50/5.00 from our community.

Picturesque Pistes
Italy is synonymous with beautiful scenery and incredible skiing. The 3 Zinnen Dolomites ski area offers a 1170m vertical drop and you’ll have no problem getting back up to the top due to their state-of-the art lift systems. The lift efficiency scores an impressive 4.76/5.00 with many of our users mentioning it when reviewing the resort.
If skiing in a UNESCO World Heritage Site is on your bucket list then you’re in luck. The Dolomites have held UNESCO World Heritage Site status for years and 3 Zinnen Dolomites takes wonderful advantage of this. When you reach the top of the ski area you’ll be in awe of the Elfer - Cima Undici which stands at over 3000m and boasts the jagged views that the Dolomites are famous for. Advanced skier Sarmiza described the area as “an excellent ski resort, wonderful views, and excellent slopes.” With many of your fellow ski enthusiasts commenting on the beauty of the resort whilst reviewing it.

Groomed Slopes
3 Zinnen Dolomites has some of the most perfectly groomed slopes in the world. In 2024, the resort was awarded bronze in the Best Ski Resorts for Groomed Runs category in the Snomad Ski Resort Awards. The Snomad community has scored the groomed slopes an impressive rating of 4.70/5.00. If you want some perfect corduroy to be able to fly edge-to- edge on then this resort is for you. The slopes are absolutely immaculate. The modern snowmaking capabilities mean that the pistes are ready from the very first sprinkling of snow. You’ll love the wide pistes that are sensational for improving or perfecting your carving. The runs down from the mountain offer the ultimate playground for charging on the piste. The incredible on-piste terrain means you’ll have a blast regardless of whether you’ve had a fresh dump of snow. Just make sure to bring some skis with a short-turn radius!
Even if your skiing isn’t at the point where you’re looking like a pro, there’s still plenty of terrain for you to tackle. The resort offers a great flow for improving, with terrain suitable for all abilities. Advanced skier Joshua says “Would highly recommend, great for beginners but also enough challenging slopes to keep everyone happy”. The easier slopes can be found nearer the bottom of the mountain meaning you can get 100s of quick laps in over your time there.
Two nights a week, the resort offers night skiing at Monte Baranci. This is honestly a bucket list activity for any skier and we promise you, you’ll still have more visibility than skiing in a whiteout!

Uncrowded Slopes
Crowds in a ski resort can be frustrating, whether it’s queuing for a lift, having to weave through a train of ski schools, or fighting to get served at your favourite mountain bar. How do we avoid them, I hear you ask? Picking the right resort is the answer. I find it hard to call a resort with 3 Zinnen Dolomites’ reputation a hidden gem, but it might be one of Europe's best kept secrets. Even during peak times, this resort does incredibly well at dealing with crowds that when it is busy it won’t look like it. 30 incredibly maintained lifts keep the crowds to a minimum. New lifts are being added each season which is improving the skiing experience. When you get to the top of the lifts, you’re met with wide slopes which adds to the feeling of quietness. You might have seen some videos of horrendous lift queues in parts of Europe and North America but 3 Zinnen Dolomites couldn’t be further from that. Expert skier Ezra gave a glowing review including “Dolomites as a whole are huge and great runs, you have big pistes and it doesn't get too busy. It's much cheaper and friendlier than other countries.” and “Some really long runs with fantastic lifts”. You’ll be dying to strap your skis on after hearing that.

Family-Friendly-Vibes
If you’re reading this and you have kids then there’s a good chance you want to get them involved in skiing from an early age. 3 Zinnen Dolomites is a fantastic option to introduce your family to life on the slopes. To kick things off, our community rated the ski schools at 4.65/5.00. If you want to know your kids are being taken care of and learning from the best whilst you get to enjoy the harder slopes then the resort is perfect for you. The rating for beginners being 4.67/5.00 gives you peace of mind that your kids won’t be forced to ski anything that might put them off. One beginner described how her experience was almost tailor made to give her family the best experience possible - “We had a few days on the Haunold slopes that were well groomed, not busy, great staff and they offered night skiing on some days, the food was great and good value on the mountain, this area was outstanding, loads of well groomed slopes, amazing views and brill hospitality.” 3 Zinnen Dolomites have opened a sixth mountain called Monte Baranci. This mountain serves as the family area, however it is not connected to the other five mountains. It’s the perfect place be able to introduce your children to skiing in the most positive ways!
The different towns in the area mean that the accommodation options score a very strong 4.64/5.00. You’ll find a perfect range of spots at different price points and vibes. Your children will never get bored here. The resort has a ski-cross course and a Rudolf Reindeer ski technique trail. Whilst you’re night skiing, your kids can be zooming down the slopes on the sledges giving you some incredible family fun that you just don’t get at lots of other resorts. One of our community's snowboarders says "Lots of non-ski/board things to do and places to visit as well. Definitely more family friendly than party goer oriented". This laid back approach to apres skiing will make you feel like your children are far more welcome in more areas around town and you can focus on family bonding rather than loud bars and dancing on tables.
You won’t get tired lugging your children's skis up to the ski school either. Just like the lift systems, the express trains up the mountain (which are included in your Sudtirol Guestpass that you can pick up for free when you check into your accommodation) makes those busy mornings all the more manageable. Make sure to say hi to the giant snowmen that are dotted around the resort, they are a magical experience for children.
