This resort is a small very skier friendly mountain with more off pista woods skiing then actual trail runs, only the beginner trails are groomed regularly, the other trails are rarely groomed to help the natural moguls form throughout the season. The hidden powder sections on the top of the mountain will have you hooting and hollering as you float your way down through the snow. The size of this mountain helps it maintain its family friendly appeal by only having two main lifts from the lodge and every trail eventually heading back to the main lodge, ie you can bring your family and ski at your own pace knowing that your family will be able to meet you at the lodge in no more than 15 mins of you waiting there. The lifts are a little on the slower side but thats okay because you can spend your time going up by watching all the skiers down below or sightseeing the beautiful green mountains. Even though it is a small mountain there is still 2,000 vertical feet drop giving you plenty of opportunity to take your time and find the hidden powder fields within the trees.

What is there to say about Mad River Glen that has not already been said?! The skiing and history of the mountain is incomparable to the mountains around it. Community owned, all natural snow, and no snowboarders allowed makes it a very unique mountain compared to those around the country. And who can forget the beautiful and iconic green single chair!

Ski it if you can! No snowboarding allowed. This is a true hidden gem for the skiing community - that is in the snow conditions.

Overall its a pretty icy mogul field with lots of trees, but its hard to beat the price compared to other resorts. Waiting for some snowfall then driving up turns it into a nice place to go if you live in the western Massachusetts area. The area around is not too shabby either so whether youre looking for a day trip with your college ski buds or just a fun time when traveling out East with a budget, look no further.
