Having been skiing at a good number of European and N. American resorts, I found that for Intermediate/Family groups Sierra Nevada compared very favourably. Prices are low (full area ski pass under 60 Euros per day) and reasonable prices for food and drink. There is limited apres ski and night life. The resort is easily accessible at under 2 hours from Malaga airport and 30 minutes into Grenada. The ski area is plenty big enough for a week at 120km of runs, but more advanced skiers would find it more limited. Finally with the top station being over 3200m the snow holds well into mid April.

The accommodation is rather pricey if you want ski in and out. They cannot manage big snowfall efficiently. It is said to be sunny skiing but we got unlucky with weather due to storms. We would have a different experience maybe a different time of the year.

We return to this resort every year as it is a cheaper alternative to skiing in central Europe and also allows you to combine a hot and sunny and cold and skiing holiday into one trip. There are many runs with there being a ton of red runs. Ypu can go off piste but there is not many trees/vegetation as the resort is so high up. I would recommend this resort to anyone who enjoys skiing/boarding and wants to do it cheaper or combine it with a hot holiday down on the coast of Spain.

Quiet during the week, however at the weekend it comes alive and ques for lifts increase dramatically. The runs are more suited to beginners/ intermediate with a lot of red and blue runs. A nice resort for a three to four day visit and would recommend Monday to Thursday to avoid crowds.

Stayed in Melia Sol y Nieve which was good although we didn’t realise you had to pay each time to use the spa. Breakfast ok and hotel in a good location.

First time skiing outside of the Alps and was very pleasantly surprised with the Sierra Nevada resort. Good choice of runs with plenty to keep us going for 4 days. Efficient lift system, good value lift passes and quiet slopes!

We’ve been going to Sierra Nevada in southern Spain for years, we love it there. The weather is glorious the majority of the time, the slopes are awesome, good value for money, we just love it. My kids learnt to snowboard there, good nursery slopes and great runs, top resort

Went to Sierra Nevada with a mix of friends and family and overall it was a really nice trip, just not somewhere I’d call amazing for skiing itself. That said, the snow and weather conditions were genuinely great while we were there, which made a huge difference and meant skiing was still really enjoyable.
Where Sierra Nevada really shines is the hotels and spas, honestly such a highlight. Everything felt comfortable, clean and a quite luxe, and was perfect for relaxing after a day on the slopes. The food was also surprisingly good, with loads of great places to eat and a really nice atmosphere everywhere.
Après-ski wasn’t great compared to other resorts and felt a bit limited, but was still fun in a more chilled way. What really stood out was how lovely everyone was, staff, locals, and other visitors all made the place feel welcoming.
Overall, I’d say Sierra Nevada is great for a sociable, relaxed ski trip with good conditions, amazing hotels and food, and nice people, just don’t go expecting wild après-ski or the most exciting runs ever.

First time skier travelling with my snowboarder Son.

Some runs were closed and there was generally a queue for the lifts. Plenty of hire shops to choose from and last minute ski lessons catered for.

Ate in most evenings as visited the supermarket on the way. Lovely weather in February.

Visited twice, really liked the resort as a lesser known gem. Decent size of skiing area to explore, a good resort for intermediates , and at a relatively affordable cost. Can be busy at weekends so try to avoid holidays and weekends if possible.

First time on a ski holiday, really enjoyable but no basis for comparison. Equipment rental store used were very friendly and it was easy to reserve ahead of time, the same can be said for the lift pass. A last minute lesson was fairly easy to book and was greatly needed! The slopes are much busier at weekends than they are in the week and staying in the high zone resulted in quite long queues for the chair lift down to the gondala although it was a nice relaxing part of the resort to stay in.The slopes were well maintained although not all runs were open and night skiing was available on some evenings.

Not my favourite place, ok for a weekend for some fun but would prefer something a little more challenging

The thing I most like about Sierra Nevada is the combination of good weather and large amount of runs, particularly red runs. There is a lot of choice. Price wise it isn't cheap, but there is a lot of variety and there are some good ski schools as well.

Lovely but without the snow machines it wouldnt have been open! Most of the slopes had melted or had no snow in the first place.

We went to Sierra Nevada too early in the season as only 14 of the 140 slopes it has were open. So this review may not be representative of the resort at peak season. There were only blues and greens open which was a shame and the snow was artificial so was a bit icy in the morning but got better throughout the day. Despite this it was still a really fun few days. The resort is beautiful, the hotel was amazing and people were nice. Id like to go back when the whole resort is open to have a better opinion of what it is actually like.

Great resort, good for families, not so much for young party people. Worth a trip if youre planning on heading to Spain. Make sure to go last January as the snow doesnt arrive till after Christmas.
