Vail Resort itself is beautiful both in the Swiss Inspired Villages as well as the amazing and expansive terrain. The Back Bowls are truly Legendary and if you can hit them on a Powder Day with sunshine and good visibility there is not much that can match it. Every area on the mountain has interesting and varied terrain for all levels and Vail is definitely a fantastic resort for large groups or families with varied levels of ability. My only critique of Vail is its affordability. It simply is not economical for any of the true ski-in-ski out options. However, the bus systems to get to the resort from the nearby condo options is fee, easy, and efficient. Ski instruction is the most expensive I have ever experienced and Ive hired private instructors at Copper Mountain CO, Solitude UT, Snowbird UT, and Mt Bachelor OR. Vail was nearly double most of those and almost 3 times what we paid at Mt Bachelor. The instruction was top notch and we accomplished all of our goals which made the lesson worth its weight in gold for me because my fiancé who is a lower level skier was able to ski the Back Bowls and Blue Sky Basin with us which was very important to me as it was my reason for visiting Vail. With tip it was nearly $2K for one day for me and her which I feel is a little gouging in Vails part, but if you get a chance to ski with Andy Hawk hes worth every penny. Food and drinks were expensive as well, but the variety and options are off the chart. For an incredible fine dining experience I highly recommend the restaurant Chasing Rabbits!
