Medium sized resort. Great views up and down the valley. Windy and south facing but good snowmaking to keep the key runs open. "Red" mountain, all blues have steep sections so not great for timid skiers. Almost all runs above the treeline on a slab of a mountain resulting in limited options in bad weather (i.e. times of poor visibility or a bitter wind that is in your teeth on any chair) but with fresh snow and/or better visibility theres a lot to go for. Italy is on the same lift pass for some different terrain and a cheaper lunch but theres a proper Red over the edge to navigate followed by 2 seriously long drag lifts along a flatish valley. If you can ski its worth a visit otherwise probably more effort and anxiety than desirable.
Reasonable prices for the Tarantaise and friendly people working in the resort. Decent food and drink available at all venues. Lift system gets people up the mountain without drama. But they then all need to ski back home down the steep, wide blue runs. So, a full mix of people; the fast, slow, inconsiderate and the careful all funnelling down towards the bottom. Humm
If youve not been to La Ros before then its certainly worth a visit.
