ABasin is a challenging but family friendly mountain with all the best terrain and is perfect for anyone who wants to become a great rider.

The skiers ski resort. If yo love long runs, trees, and off piste this is the place for you. Long season relative to others in the area. Lifts are a little dated and slow but just pick a spot on the mountain and crush a few runs before moving on. This place feels special.

This is a smaller resort with no lodging located on site. This is what makes this place special. Located high up in the mountains, majority of this resort is above the tree line. Lenawee peak is so close you can feel like you can touch it going up the lift. What makes this place special is wide open ski runs with outstanding beauty. Feels a lot like an Alps ski destination. Powder is great, food is amazing, and crowds are usually pretty light.

I loved A basin, hadnt snowboarded for over a decade properly and had the best time there. Knew enough of the basics for my girlfriend and I to use the bunny hills (beginner area) to get up to speed, and theyre great!! Not too steep, enough to get some speed to learn your turns, but not enough to truly eat snow!

As Ive not ridden the more advanced areas, I cannot comment on a few of the areas. Though, I do know many skiers/snowboarders will ride off piste through the powder and trees, then hitch hike back up the mountain! Obviously havent done it at my level, but I see a lot of people on my way up!

Its most certainly a place where the food is way better then it needs to be a super great lunch to finish out the day is important indeed! I love that they are apart of the snowing a bus that comes from the city to the slopes round trip ticket for 25 bucks and ABasin offers a lift ticket as well for a 114 all together its wonderful I love it there indeed Colorados Grandad of slopes and the some of steepest in Colorado!

Arapahoe Basin, also known as A-Basin, is a great colorado resort. The backside is most popular and the resort is slightly less busy than others due to limited days for ikon pass holders

From my experience skiing in Colorado I have found the best snow at A Basin. While its super family friendly with the beach by the lodge which is an area where people set up their own areas by eachother to sit back and hangout, there is also incredible skiing if you like steep runs, deep powder, and trees. After it snowed over 18 inches and I got there early for first lift, I realized halfway through the day I rly didnt need to get there so early because I could still easily find fresh pow in the trees if I looked for it. Overall fantastic mountain with a beautiful drive up as well.

A-Basin is a classic ski spot that is a little less popular than other mountains in the areas. This makes it an ideal spot if you are looking to escape some of the crowds that the other mountains bring. It is a smaller mountain that seems to focus on gnarly terrain over groomed runs. They still have terrain for all skill levels, but I go here to get off the groomers and find some rocks to jump or trees to thread. A-Bay is particularly fun for early-season skiing as well. The parking lot is super close to the lift and main lodge making it a popular place to park and party. Locals use this spot to hangout between runs or after the day ends. Great Mountain!

Abasin is the place to go for above alpine riding! Long steep runs and powder fields lend to a day filled with adventure. Abasin is not as friendly to beginners as most runs feature steep slopes and difficult terrain, but for the adventurous visitor with some experience Abasin will not disappoint. Tip: If coming from Denver in a suitable AWD or 4WD vehicle you should take Loveland pass to help beat the crowds and get parking quicker.

A basin is a great resort for everyone in my opinion. It is a very open mountain compared to other reports with pretty wide trails. You really can just do whatever you want without being confined to one narrow run. Theres a wide range of trails from beginner to expert. Highly recommend.

Arapahoe basin is one of the best atmospheres for skiing in North America. Its boasts a small community with a mountain that is tough to beat!

Really great high alpine skiing and boarding. Great tree runs and a beautiful back bowl. Not too many people, I believe they tend to limit lift tickets and ikon pass users are limited by how many days they can go to a bay. It does get very windy at the top, but right below tree line is some great low wind blues and greens.

Love getting on the cornice or easy wall and dropping into 2-3 feet of powder. There are some great places away from the crowds to really enjoy and have the quiet and open terrain with beautiful glades runs on the Beaver lift. Great atmosphere apres ski - especially at the beach.

ABasin is a skiers mountain and truly legendary. The Beavers, East Wall and Steep Gullies are my favorites. The hike to/ hike back terrain is highly challenging. Zuma bowl is unequaled above tree line off piste skiing for the expert skier.

This is an advanced resort with steep slopes and options to ride couloirs. Definitely not beginner friendly. Although you get dramatic terrain, beautiful views, and a long season of skiing (longest in the US, I believe), the crowds are almost unbearable. Parking lots are cannot accommodate the crowds coming here during peak season, which is disappointing considering the high day pass prices charged prior to arrival. Nothing worse than being turned away after sitting in traffic and paying high prices. You can have the best or worst ski day here.

Arapahoe Basin is a skiers mountain. There is no lodging option at the ski area. It is all about the skiing here. If you are looking for challenging terrain with an old school ski vibe this is the place for you. If you are just learning Arapahoe Basin offers an affordable alternative to the larger resorts. With the longest ski season in Colorado you can ski from October until June.

This resort is great if you want to ski double black runs. There are few groomers and only a small terrain park. The trees here are steep and tight, but fun on good snow days.

The best in Summit County . This is local paradise. The off piste is some of the best in Colorado . The is the last independent which is moving over to Alterra. Hopefully this will not cause any problems for the future

A basin isnt your average Colorado ski resort. As of 2024, when you pull up to the lot its like taking a Time Machine, back before the bubble chairs, the $40 hamburgers and the luxury hotels. If youre looking for aesthetics in man made features, probably not your place BUT if youre looking for aesthetics in scenery, world class terrain and authentic ski culture- youve found your place.

As a local freeride coach, this is the top choice. If you consider yourself an advanced skier you can find yourself in the best freeride terrain in Colorado. If you go on a week day, be prepared for no lines (though I could see this changing after Alterra acquires in 2025). But if you consider yourself a beginner, theres still options for learned and progressing.

I would avoid coming in the beginning of the season.- really anything before January to be honest. A basins early season terrain is infamously and affectionately called the White Ribbon of Death. Because its one of the first resorts to open, everyone and their mom comes to the 2 runs open. Imagine 2000 people on icy man made snow at the same time. Yeah.

A basin is called the Legend for a reason. So many resorts nowadays feel like theme parks- out of touch and maybe a little fake , especially for the core community. A basin is more like camping.

As we get out priced of our towns its nice to come back to a little slice of heaven, tucked away but well known. Hopefully Alterra recognizes this priceless mountain and reserves every ounce of its magic. Come here for the incredible skiing and memories, not the luxurious condos or lobster tail.

Amazing powder all over the mountain. A ton of ungroomed and mogul terrain which is a huge plus for me. And the beaver bowl has some of the best steep tree runs I've ever skiid.
